Why do people boast of being "Conservative", especially politicians?

Isn't that basically an admission to being unable or unwilling to adapt to the changing realities of the world?

As for me being conservative, it about is not wasting money, over taxing, limiting federal government.

Change is not always for the better, especially morality wise. Tv is an example of this.

In my opinion, instead of being unable and unwilling to adapt to changing realities, I believe that social conservatives honestly believe that more than a few of the socially moral changes are flat out immoral or sinful.

I appreciate a fiscal conservative approach.
And I agree that adapting to current mores without some sense of stable morality leads to decadence.

I think of my own life journey. I am the same person I was as an infant and yet I have changed and grown so much that in many ways I am not the same person.

As a culture, society, nation and even church there must be a part of our identity that remains and endures like an anchor even as other aspects change, grow, develop and adapt.

I appreciated the Wiki article listing 9 forms of conservativism. So it is not so black and white, conservative/liberal as we often see the labels.

Political adds come right out with , "I am a conservative" as if that is some kind of free pass. But you don't her others coming out with , " I am a liberal". as if it is some kind of sinful confession.

Do they use progressive instead of liberal. I am kind of out of the political news, as 24 hour news has turn me off to the countries political state.

I turn on the news just to see what was going on when trump was shot, but still it is over load.

If anything, it's an admission that they are fundamentally liberal and on the side of change but they want to do it slowly. Basically modern 'conservatism' is heading towards the same cliff edge liberals are, but at the speed limit.

Unwilling to adapt to the changing realities of the world? Yes, We are not of the world.
Unable? The ability to accept the prevalent moral decay is nothing to be proud of.
God is tolerant, forbearing as we as Christians should be. That is not to say that we agree or support the 'changing realities,'

Correct, at least not explicitly. So now "Conservative:" has come to mean backward and stubborn....gun rights, Trump supporter, book burner, anti-science, etc.

Backward in what way? Like in adhering to a biblical morality instead of the Marquis De Sade's morality?

Instead of calling themselves left wing liberals, I believe the term that they prefer to boast themselves with is::: Progressives. But, I don't believe that all of the liberals really like the Progressives label.

Umm...I'm skeptical simply because they see this as a positive thing. They're just as proud of their label as conservatives.

Lets look at family.

Conservatives see mom at home, dad working and a couple of straight kids,

Liberals see maybe mom doing the main breadwinning, or maybe not even married or married to someone same sex. Or dad also doing his own thing. Kids? Maybe some gender identity issues. Liberals ok with all that/conservatives having a fit.
