Then Jesus is also guilty of showing this "ugly side of Christianity" when he said, "Go, and sin no more."
Jesus tells everyone that, for we are all sinners. The cruel and hateful, the greedy and selfish are sinners who hurt others. Gay people do not try to hurt others. The overwhelming majority want to be accepted, raise families, be good neighbors, and be accepted.

Oh, so you agree it's open season.
Discrimination is against human rights. People of color, especially immigrants, also feel that it's open season on them.
Are you speaking of 'illegal immigrants' or of legal immigrants? The legal immigrants are not necessarily in favor of illegal immigrants, particularly the gangs that are adding significantly to crimes like drug running and turf wars.

And yet who says "We're here, we're queer, WE ARE COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN!"? (Emphasis in the actual use of the slogan.)

So basically your standard for morality is it is okay to do whatever you want as long as others are not harmed. So, based on your logic, pornography, alcoholism, gambling addictions, suicide, and sexual immorality, and idolatry are not sinful.

LGBTQ going around chanting "WE ARE COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN!" while infiltrating their schools, libraries and cartoons etc, reap what they sow. Exploiting children is not a human right.

People who do illegal things, like illegally crossing the border into the United States, reap what they sow. Committing crime is not a human right.

The content and context of that repentance is what is being debated.

For too long, religion in the western world has been used as a tool of oppression of the powerful against the powerless, and even the hermeneutic by which many Christians read the Bible is shaped by the same oppressive mindset. This is contrary to the actual character of Jesus of Nazareth.
On the contrary it is predominantly western Christianity that has become more susceptible to the acceptance of sin. It’s actually extremely rare in the eastern churches. And what you call “oppression” is in reality a disapproval of sinful behavior. Are not murderers oppressed? Or thieves, or drunkards, or rapists, or liars, in the same fashion? And yet those who repent of these sins are no longer oppressed. It’s not the people who are being oppressed by Christians only their sinful actions that are considered unacceptable. You claim that disapproval of sin is contrary to the character of Jesus, can you provide ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE of Jesus ever condoning sin? We both know that I can provide numerous statements that Jesus made where He forbad sinful behavior. Take the adulterous woman for example, yes He had mercy on her and what did He say to her? “Where are your accusers? Then I do not accuse you either, GO AND SIN NO MORE”. He had mercy on her but He didn’t tell her to go back to doing what she was doing before. And if you read Revelation 2-3 He held the same standard for Christians within the church. So your claim that disapproval of sin is contrary to the character of Jesus is COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED BY SCRIPTURE.

It is because of the religious right's treatment of them that they are upset. They have shown them the ugly side of Christianity.
Our city had a gay Episcopal priest who was loved by people of many faiths because he modeled the love of Christ to all.
Since DEI has been demonized, LGBT's feel like it's open season against them now. Trans people who served honorably and heroically in the military are losing their careers.
Is it any wonder they are suspicious of the "judgmental Jesus" worshipped by the religious right?
Make no mistake Jesus is 100% judgmental since He is the One who will literally judge everyone on Judgement Day.

No I would say that there are some extremists who do not reflect the mercy of Christ. Like the pastor Steven Anderson for example who has openly stated that he wants LGBT to be put to death. But I would also point out that Steven Anderson doesn’t represent the mentality of the vast majority of Christianity. But it’s because of these extremists who slanderize the character of Christ and drag the integrity of the church thru the mud which is precisely why you can’t stereotype all Christians into any category based on the actions of some within the demographic.

Judging someone by their actions is completely different than judging someone by the color of their skin or their nationality.

The OP article talks about how concerned the LGBTQ movement is over a Christian character being in a series for children.

Seems like a turf thing. The LGBTQ movement wants children's entertainment and education to be their turf. They don't want Christianity muscling in on it. The kids belong to them now.
The LGBT movement is demonic to its core.

They are upset because they ran the country for the last decade and now their rule has been questioned. Not only by the 'religious right' but by plain old atheists and agnostics too.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, is as judgmental as the woke DEI hordes who have pushed the trans thing down our throats for years now. They just don't want to lose the power to keep doing that. Few Christians are as judgmental as those guys are.
Yup. Don’t agree with the LGBT lifestyle, see how much hatred they respond with. They know deep down it’s wrong. It’s their own guilty conscience that is bothering them.

It seems as if the concerns of the LGBT community will be directly proportionate to the judgmentalism of the "Christians."
If they aren't preachy hypocrites hopefully they would be welcomed.
Who cares what the LGBT community thinks? No one rights are being threatened.

Their lifestyle, their choice.

I don't see how any Christian can't see that it's a contrivance of the enemy to warp God's children.

The worst off, the poorest and most ostracized, are those who are prisoners or slaves, such as those captured by Hamas or the victims of human trafficking here in the United States. The conservatives (and Jesus would approve of this) are trying to rescue as many as the ostracized as they can, while some on the left (much of the problems were created by Democrat border policies) are interfering with ICE. Conservative Christians are also against the teaching of transgenderism and racism in school, and are against a leftist state that wants to decide which children to transition without letting the parents know. Jesus promoted the family and was against Sodom and Gomorrah, and He would not approve of drag queen shows to little children. Jesus too is opposed to abortion. Jesus is against government overreach and their attacks on Christians and others with conservative values. What do you think Jesus would say about males identifying as female exposing themselves in girls locker rooms and bathrooms?
Amen, brother!

Agreed, we’re not called to judge those outside the church but we are called to preach the gospel and all that Christ taught. So what they do in their own lives is not our concern but if they’re going to promote sinful behavior to the public whether people like it or not, it’s our responsibility to be the voice of opposition whether people like it or not. So they can exercise their right of freedom as speech and we’ll exercise our’s and people can decide for themselves which path they want to take.
