I’m sure she did, but you don’t because you are not open to her actions being anything but what you have decided 5hem to be.
I’m only stating it’s a pretty big coincidence. That’s all.

Out of context, sure, the similarities are there. But comments here have gone way beyond coincidence to outright accusations of intentional mockery of Catholic traditions all the way to ant-Christian sentiment from a US Governor. I think these accusations need a little more direct proof of her intentions rather than just a feeling.

Like I said, I'm not surprised by anything Democrats do. The biggest surprise is that followers of Christ still support them.

When I go up to the Altar to receive the Most Holy Eucharist I go up to receive the very flesh and very blood of Christ my God. I am a wretch and an unworthy sinner, approaching the Throne of Grace, entering into the Holy of Holies, by the shed blood of the Lamb of God. And here is the blood of the Lamb, my sins are forgiven, and I am brought to the Table of God.

And I plan on voting for the Democratic candidate this November. Not in spite of my Christian convictions, but because of my Christian convictions.

The same Jesus Christ whose flesh I eat and blood I drink is the same Jesus Christ who commands my total and unwavering allegiance to His Cross and Kingdom.

As such, I cannot support the Republican Party. And I most certainly cannot vote for their current candidate, it would be unconscionable and violate everything I believe and stand for as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Do any Protestants receive on the tongue?

Some Episcopalians will do so optionally (upon receiving the Host, one hands it to the priest or deacon with the chalice, who then intincts it and places in in the communicants mouth). Perhaps because there are a fair number of Episcopalians that are ex-Catholics, or perhaps because they are of an Anglo-Catholic persuasion.

I think standing is the norm, and in some cases, communion plates are passed around in some Presbyterian/Reformed circles.

Actually, when I visited a United Church of Christ congregation in 2014, for a college project, they received sitting while the piece of bread and juice was passed around throughout the congregation.

At our church (UCC), we go to the Table and receive Holy Communion in the hand from the pastor.

Passing around in the pews is an early 20th century innovation, it became common during tuberculosis epidemics. But it isn't historical, and is mostly an American innovation. The Puritans and the European Reformed traditionally receive Holy Communion at the Table.

She stuck out her tongue while kneeling. I think she’s aware, imo.

I can’t find anything that states Whitmer is even a Christian.

Whitmer is a Christian. As a governor, she has to represent people of many faiths, and none, so she is private about her religious beliefs.

It definitely LOOKED like she was mocking holy communion, that’s why many are saying it was an anti-Christian sentiment.

I get what it looked like. The frustration comes when something like this gets spread around, out of context, and instead of people saying something is not right here, why would a prominent political figure openly mock something sacred to Catholics, let me investigate further before placing judgement. No instead it’s straight to the outrage and the damage is done.

Maybe people in prominent positions like governor should think before they make videos like this

Perhaps, and maybe other people should take a moment before jumping to conclusions.

It's kind of hard not to jump to conclusions when it looks exactly like it.

To be fair.

1. She's in her 2nd term and cannot run again. (I don't know Michigan laws on term limits)

2. She's promised a position in the Harris Walz administration
.
The mask is off, she's showing you how she really feels.

Or it’s a joke that flew way over many heads.

"Whitmer is the Satanic priestess of abortion with no limits, and Feministabulous revels in the unholy communion," wrote Post Millennial editor-in-chief Libby Emmons. "I'm sure they think it's super cute and just a big laugh."
With things like this, I think to myself. I say self, I'm glad our laws are based on a secular, democratically elected, constitutional republic rules. If it were up to some people, the laws of this country should coincide with religious tenets rather than the will of the majority. The main problem with that is with over a thousand Protestant denominations and billions of the Catholic faithful which have separated into regions.

What denomination or Catholic/Orthodox tenets should be made law? If we went that route, we would be even more divided. The reason why our (corrupt) government is so successful is because of majority rule. It's fine to want to ban abortion for religious reasons but your beliefs are in the minority they can't be enforced on the majority.

I think some (actually many) people are on a revival crusade to force Christian laws on society. I mean "Satanic priestess of abortion" has nothing to do with politics. If abortion should be illegal, a successful argument should be able to defeat another argument is they can prove that the benefits outweigh the risks.

For example, there are arguments about Margaret Sanger, a Eugenicist who argued it would be better to end the lives of the poor and minorities so we are able to have a more highly evolved society. That is a fact along with black women having countless more abortions than white women should be a good argument about human rights.

So, even if a position is from a religious perspective, you still have to find practical reasons for the opposition to get on board. Setting up fences and claiming this issue is good vs evil will do more damaging than attempting to find a compromise.

It's the biggest problem with politics today (probably always). It's us against them and we have to win or the world will end and we'll all starve. How about coming to the table with the attitude of "I can support you this way if you are willing to support me this way. Bargaining, compromise, teamwork, win/win anre all good terms to learn if we are really going to get along. At the end of the day, it's what the people say..

A woman on her knees being hand fed looks demeaning to me but if this is what they think will help Harris I hope they do more like it. She's already down by 3 there
Do women recieve eucharist while on their knees? Is the Eucharist given to them by men?
Is this demeaning of women?

All that's nice but this is really just about a governor doing something stupid

Are you admitting that this is a mockery of the Eucharist? The argument throughout this thread is that it is not.
From what I understand people used to kneel to receive the Eucharist but they no longer do, but you would have to ask someone who is Catholic.
My communion comes in a little plastic container with a tiny piece of bread in the top and a bit of juice in the bottom
