"Most Democratic voters want the party to nominate someone other than President Biden to head the ticket in the 2024 election, according to a poll released Sunday.
Among those who didn’t want Mr. Biden to seek reelection, the main reasons were that they didn’t believe he could win (35%); they didn’t want him reelected (31%), and they thought he was too old (19%)."

Biden's cognition has been in decline for quite a while now. unfortunately the mainstream liberal media have been doing a good job hiding it.

at this point, the best thing Biden could do is to step down.

Naaah, the right wing media has been doing a good job of inventing it.

Yep President Harris, that'll soothe the conservatives.

I am independent who voted for Biden. I think Biden is doing a decent job, but I don’t want him to run either. Biden will be 82 by next election. I want someone new and younger. I wish there were alternative choice on Republican side, but too bad Republican no longer believe in democracy.

I'm a recent Democrat (from 2016). I'm with you that Biden will just be too old. I don't know enough about Harris for her run for the presidency although she meets my personal criteria (served in Congress or as a governor of a major state).

I would agree with that. Personally, I'd like for both parties to put forth different nominees than either Biden or Trump.

God bless,
Ted

Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are too far to the left and in favor of big government without a balanced budget. Squandering funds on paying people more to stay at home than those who go to work was a mistake.

Trump is too dishonest and authoritarian. When some of his supporters were calling out, “Hang Pence” on January 6, it was a disgrace. Trump claimed he won when he lost. I get tired of being lied to and conned. Where is his border wall? Congress passed a bill to fund it. Trump refused to sign it and then asked Mexico to fund it. Mexico refused to fund it. A number of presidents built sections of border wall; none built a complete perimeter defense.

I thought Biden was too old in 2020. He was last on my list of Democratic candidates, and Harris was next to last.

This.

What the right doesn't seem to grasp is that pretty much nobody on the left is a big fan of Biden. At most, we consider him "meh". But we understood that a boring, milquetoast politician was what was needed at the time. Number one priority was getting Trump out of office. Everyone I know who voted for Biden assumed that he'd serve a term and then he'd switch out for a younger, more dynamic and engaging candidate. I THINK the Democratic party was/is hoping Harris would be that candidate.

I'm also an unaffiliated voter and I agree with everything you have said. I'd add that I wouldn't want Harris to be that younger person.

As an Independent, I agree. I voted for Biden with the understanding he would be a one term President. And given the significant challenges he has faced in his first year, I think he is doing a good job. No other POTUS had to face a pandemic, stand down a 20 year war (Afghanistan) and now confront the greatest military threat to European peace since WW2.

It would be for the best; I don't think he's going to win a second term and always thought of him as a placeholder. The dems have to field someone younger than Biden or Bernie. Not going to vote for a Clinton again, no matter who is opposing.

Harris shouldn’t get automatic pass just because she is VP. I hope we have choice in primary.
