If you want to be pedantic you should first understand what you're talking about. In information theory (the subject under discussion) entropy is H.
Be nice.

I wasn't trying to be pedantic.
But I was just going by the context in this thread (physical and life sciences). and it seemed like a random reference to Physics/Chemistry.

My apologies... :(
There must have been another conversation somewhere else that I missed ;)

edit: yikes, nvm. I see the quote. lol. This is how you know you are old ;)

why don't they use the same symbol as in the Physical Sciences?
Do we have a claim on our notation that forbids other fields from using it? or do they just want to be different? (or do we just want to be different lol).

S stands for source in information theory?

I have no expertise.

When I'm applying for a job, interviewers see my CV and:

Not sure I'd qualify as 'expert' in anything, but I'm reasonably well up on general science, graduated in Human Biology, worked as a research tech Environmental Physiology, had a 25 year career as a software developer (from assembler to web development). Some experience in Eastern martial arts (karate, Tai-Chi). The last few years I've been studying philosophy.
