Continued from: YHWH's Table (Part 13)

Let's review. We started with Leviticus 1 through 5; then we moved to Leviticus 23, and reviewed the Shabbat, and the Moedim.

Let's pick up on Leviticus 6.

Guilt (אשמ) (Asham)

(CLV) Lv 6:1
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

(CLV) Lv 6:2
When a soul sins (חטא) (Chata) and offends (מעל) (Mol) with an offense (מעל) (Mol) against Yahweh and dissimulates (כחש) (Kachash) against his companion in regard to deposit or pledge of hand or pillage, or he extorts from his companion,

Notice that the offense (מעל) (Mol) is against YHWH. Consider the foremost precept, and the second which is like it.

(כחש) (Kachash)

A withholding or denial of something such as food resulting in leanness of truth through a lie.

(CLV) Lv 6:3
or he finds lost property and dissimulates in regard to it, or swears on falsely on one or another of all the things which a human might do, sinning by them:

(CLV) Lv 6:4
when it will come to be that he sins and realizes his guilt (אשמ) (Asham), then he will restore the pillage which he pillaged, or the extortion which he extorted, or the deposit which was committed to him, or the lost which he found,

(CLV) Lv 6:5
or anything about which he swore falsely; he will repay it in its full value and add a fifth of its value onto it. To him whose it is shall he give it on the day of his guilt (אשמ) (Asham) offering.

Notice that the property isn't given to YHWH. It's given back to he from whom was deprived of his property; and more is given back than taken. It is given back for the offender's guilt.

(CLV) Lv 6:6
He shall bring to the priest as his guilt (אשמ) (Asham) offering to Yahweh, a flawless ram from the flock, by your appraisal in silver shekels as a guilt offering.

Notice in addition to repaying the property, that a ram is brought to YHWH's table.
This is not a lamb; and it is not for sin. It is for guilt.

(CLV) Lv 6:7
Thus the priest will make a propitiatory shelter (כפר) (Kapar) over him before Yahweh, and it will be pardoned (סלח) (Selach) him for one or another of all the things which one might do to become guilty in it.

(כפר) (Kapar) Cover
(סלח) (Selach) Forgive

Notice that the Kohen Gadol is not specifically mentioned in this covering.

Notice that this covering is in addition to the restitution made to the individual including the extra 20% of its' value.

Ascent (עלה) (Olah)

(CLV) Lv 6:8
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

(CLV) Lv 6:9
Instruct Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law (תורה) (Turah) of the ascent (עלה) (Olah) offering: It is the ascent (עלה) (Olah) offering on account of its glow on the altar all night until the morning; the fire of the altar, it shall be kept glowing on it;

Direction (תורה) (Turah)

(CLV) Lv 6:10
and the priest will put on his linen coat, and he shall put on linen breeches over his flesh. He will raise up the greasy ash (to which the fire has devoured the ascent (עלה) (Olah) offering on the altar) and place it beside the altar.

(CLV) Lv 6:11
Then he will strip off his garments and put on other garments and bring forth the greasy ash outside the camp to a clean place.

(CLV) Lv 6:12
Yet the fire on the altar shall be kept glowing on it; it shall not be quenched. The priest will make wood consume on it morning by morning and arrange the ascent (עלה) (Olah) offering on it and cause the fat portions of the peace offerings (שלמים) (Shalomim) to fume on it.

Peace (שלמים) (Shalomim)

(CLV) Lv 6:13
The fire, it shall be kept glowing continually on the altar; it shall not be quenched.

It appears the the Olah is thrown directly into the fire; that is fuels the fire.

Gift (מנחה) (Mincha)

(CLV) Lv 6:14
This is the law (תורה) (Turah) of the approach present (מנחה) (Mincha). The sons of Aaron are to bring it near before Yahweh, in view of the altar.

Gift (מנחה) (Mincha)

(CLV) Lv 6:15
Then one will raise up from it his fistful of the flour of the approach present (מנחה) (Mincha) and of its oil and all the frankincense which is on the approach present (מנחה) (Mincha) and cause it to fume on the altar, a fragrant odor, as its memorial portion to Yahweh.

(CLV) Lv 6:16
And the rest of it Aaron and his sons shall eat. As unleavened bread shall it be eaten in a holy place. In the court of the tent of appointment shall they eat it.

The flour Mincha may be eaten by the sons of Aaron.

(CLV) Lv 6:17
It shall not be baked with leaven. As their portion I give it from My fire offerings (אשה) (Asheh). It is a holy of holies, like the sin (חטא) (Chata) offering and like the guilt (אשמ) (Asham) offering.

Fire (אשה) (Asheh)
Sin (חטא) (Chata)
Guilt (אשמ) (Asham)

It appears that some Asheh, including Chata and Asham, may be eaten by the sons of Aron as well.

(CLV) Lv 6:18
Every male among the sons of Aaron, he may eat of it. It is an eonian statute throughout your generations from the fire offerings (אשה) (Asheh) of Yahweh. All that may touch them is holy.

It appears that the sons of Aaron may eat of the Ashe forever.

Offering (קרבן) (Korban)
Kohen Mashiach

(CLV) Lv 6:19
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

(CLV) Lv 6:20
This is the approach (קרבן) (Korban) present of Aaron and his sons which they shall bring near to Yahweh on the day of his anointing (משח) (Mashach): A tenth of an ephah of flour as an approach present continually, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening.

Offering (קרבן) (Korban)
Smear (משח) (Mashach)

(CLV) Lv 6:21
On a flat pan with oil shall it be made. Well-mixed shall you bring it. Baked morsels of the approach present (מנחה) (Mincha) shall you bring near, a fragrant odor to Yahweh.

(CLV) Lv 6:22
And the priest (כהן) (Kohen) anointed (משיח) (Mashiach) in his stead from among his sons, he shall do it. It is an eonian statute to Yahweh. Wholly shall it be caused to fume;

Priest (כהן) (Kohen)
Smeared (משיח) (Mashiach)

(CLV) Lv 6:23
every approach present (מנחה) (Mincha) of a priest (כהן) (Kohen), it shall come to be wholly fumed; it shall not be eaten.

Gift (מנחה) (Mincha)

Every Mincha of a Priest may not be eaten.

Sin (חטא) (Chata)

(CLV) Lv 6:24
Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying:

(CLV) Lv 6:25
Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is the law (תורה) (Turah)of the sin (חטא) (Chata) offering. In the place where the ascent (עלה) (Olah) offering is slain the sin (חטא) (Chata) offering shall be slain before Yahweh; it is a holy of holies.

I find it interesting that YHWH specifically stated the the Chata is slain in the same place that the Olah is slain. Is a Korban slain in a different place?

(CLV) Lv 6:26
The priest making it a sin (חטא) (Chata) offering, he shall eat it. In a holy place shall it be eaten, in the court of the tent of appointment.

I find it interesting that "The Priest making" the Chata is the one who eats it. Is the Chata for himself?

(CLV) Lv 6:27
All that may touch its flesh, it is holy. And when some of its blood is spattered on a garment, you shall rinse that on which it is spattered in a holy place.

Interesting that the blood of the Chata must be rinsed in Kadosh place

(CLV) Lv 6:28
Yet the earthenware vessel in which it is cooked shall be broken. And if it is cooked in a copper vessel, it will be scoured and laved in water.

(CLV) Lv 6:29
Every male among the priests, he shall eat it; it is a holy of holies.

(CLV) Lv 6:30
Yet any sin (חטא) (Chata) offering from which blood is brought into the tent of appointment to make a propitiatory shelter (כפר) (Kapar) in the holy place, it shall not be eaten. In fire shall it be burned.

Cover (כפר) (Kapar)

Obviously not all blood from Chata is brought in Kadosh to make Kapar.

This presents more questions. It seems the deeper I go into this study, the more depths I find.

Shabbat shalom.
