NIV Zechariah 9:

9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey [H2543 male donkey], on a colt [H5895 young donkey], the foal of a donkey [H860 female donkey].
There are two distinct animals mentioned in this verse: colt-donkey and mother-donkey. The king rides on the colt-donkey, possibly accompanied by the mother-donkey. Zechariah messianically prophesied Jesus' triumphal entry to Jerusalem. But In the NT, Mark, Luke, and John, all speak only of one animal. Mark 11:

7 And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it.
Nevertheless, they have not denied the possibility of the presence of a second animal. Matthew mentions two animals (ESV) 21:

7 They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them.
The last "them" refers to the cloaks.

New American Standard Bible:

and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their cloaks on them; and He sat on the cloaks.
Jesus sat on the cloaks on the colt-donkey only.
