That's really awesome. Congratulation on your studying. I might say though there is a lot more to it than the preterist perspective. They have it right, obviously about the prophesies of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, ending the Old Covenant age. But they seem to be dead set on ignoring the age of the four gentile empires that ended in 1453 AD when what had been the capitol of the Roman Empire since 333 AD, Constantinople was conquered. That was the great line of demarcation between that age and the promised age. What transpired at that point to begin to move us out of the world of despotic kingdoms. empires and slavery into a free world. A new world in which the earthly promises of God made to hundreds of generations of saints; unfulfilled in their generations could finally come to pass in a free world they created and maintain. The year the Roman Empire ended was the time the Bible, for the first time in human history began to make its way into the hands of the general public.I'm with you 100%, but I only came to this understanding late last year. In fact, I thank covid for this because it prompted me to better understand the mark of the beast as I feared it was upon us, but in studying the book of Revelation from a preterist perspective (for the first time in my life), suddenly this all made sense to me. I now can read the same verses I've read a hundred times before and understand them in a completely different way. It's kind of mind blowing actually.
The forty-two months; time two times and a half time, 1260 days etc etc; are all related to the length of time of the Roman Empire starting with the 11th of 10 as yet unnamed emperors in Daniel 7. The reason that is such a significant date is because Daniel 2, 7 and Revelation are prophesying the beginning of the promised age of a free world once that forth empire ends. (There are 100 chapters of prophecy about our free world before the specific end time prophecies.) John received his vision during the rein of the 5th emperor of the first eight emperors. Titus is the eight. He represents the beast because he destroyed Jerusalem the second time. (note, you don't get to count the half dozen claimants to the thrown in the two year civil war as emperors.) The ten and the 11th were out ahead of the first 8 in Revelation. Was Revelation written prophesying the 42 months to come - or looking back on it? I tend to favor an early date for Revelation, but am not really sure.
The part that is 100% fulfilled is up to chapter 19. The fall of the Roman Empire. The last three chapters will from here on out always be in a state of being fulfilled. How much of Revelation has been fulfilled? Up to Rev. 20:6?
Thanks
Helpful, thanks. The part that is 100% fulfilled is up to chapter 19. The fall of the Roman Empire. The last three chapters will from here on out always be in a state of being fulfilled.
I just posted this on Facebook today as an example of a few of its verses.
Revelation chapter 20 isn't a prophecy about the end of the world but a prophecy about the end of the ancient world ruled by despots. Yes hell is real but these are not prophecies about hell.
Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
The great white throne is the same great white throne in Daniel chapter 7. In Daniel 7 the saints influence becomes the dominate influence in the world. Their judgements of right and wrong, truth and lies become dominate. This was all to begin to occur after the fall of the 4th empire prophesied about in the Bible; Rome. Revelation 19 is the fall of that Roman Empire in 1453 AD.
The books in this prophecy are the record of peoples deeds. The one book of life is the Bible. The dead are not those who have died but those without Christ in the nations. This is a good news prophecy about exactly what has been occurring in the world since 1453 AD when for the first time in human history the Bible began to make its way into the hands of the general public. You'll see this clearer in the next verses.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The sea illustrates the nations of the world and the dead are those in it who are without Christ but now are hearing the gospel. That is what it means that the sea is giving up its dead. Death and hell are what ruled in the nations. Because they are now hearing the gospel. billions getting saved and transforming those nations so that death and hell no longer rule them. The Gospel, the Word of God and the river of life that proceeds forth from the throne of heaven through believers is transforming the nations of the world. Death and hell being cast into the lake of fire is an illustration of the finality of the end of their rule over the nations. Human beings are now having a say in their temporal and eternal destinies. Something they didn't have in the environment of the despotic ancient world that was separated from the grace of God.
Be exited. In the time frame measured by the history of the world this thing is just getting started.
Psalm 72 is a prophecy about the rein of the messiah in the earth after the fall of the forth empire that made war against the saints and overcame them. If you read it you'll see it's not a utopia being prophesied about as the blood of the poor and needy is still being split and their are still oppressors. The difference is the oppressors do not rule the entire world like they did the ancient one. . Look at these verses about that reign though.
Psalm 72:3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. 4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
The mountains and hills are the nations of the world that bring peace to the people. Why? Because they have adopted the righteousness of the principles of Gods Word. What has been happening to the oppressors of the world for 500 years now? They are being crushed. Slowly but surely as the Gospel spreads and the believers grow in numbers and knowledge, the free world has been growing.
It's high time Gods people drop the likes of Mohamed and Joseph Smiths paradigm and variations of their readings of the the Bible's prophecy. God wants his peoples agreement, faith and sacrifice to fulfill his vision for the future which is quite the opposite of the dystopian visions of the the future the world has to offer. As one preacher says. This is happening. You can oppose it or get in on it, your choice. But its still happening.
Question for partial preterists:
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Hi, do PP believe these verses have been fulfilled?

I believe this was fulfilled when the temple burned. The key to understanding this is knowing that "Heaven and Earth" referred to the temple complex. Heaven being the inner court, and Earth the outer court. Other aspects of the temple also represented elements of creation. The wash basin for example was called "the sea" and the altar was called "the bosom of the earth". The lamps were referred to as the lights of the fourth day of creation, and represented the known planets, the sun and the moon. The entire design of the temple was a representation of heaven and earth. This is why John the revelator saw a new heaven and a new earth, that being the new temple which is our body.Question for partial preterists:

I highlighted your question above. Yes, there is another harvest coming. A third one at the close of fallen humanity's existence on this planet. It is described in the Bible by the OT symbolism of the Feast of Tabernacles with that month's Day of Atonement, and a year of Jubilee when all debts were cancelled and the people "returned to their possession".As a preterist myself, I believe that the harvest came in 70 AD, in the sense that believers were given their heavenly bodies in a resurrection, and entered into heaven. However, I can't help but wonder if this parable also applies to our time today, or perhaps in our future.
The reason I say this is because we clearly have the wheat and the tares still growing together. I also feel like over the last few years the distinction between the wheat and the tares has become very pronounced. Is this the Lord separating us by revealing the tares, to bundle them together? Is there another harvest coming? Or will the earth, and humanity on the earth, continue forever?
I guess, in a nutshell, I'm wondering where the end is, in regards to this earth and humanity on this earth. Is there an end? And if so, is it described in the Bible? What does it look like?
Many, like you, feel this way, but does reality bear it out?I can't help but wonder if this parable also applies to our time today, or perhaps in our future.....The reason I say this is because we clearly have the wheat and the tares still growing together. Scripture teaches that the earth and material cosmos will exist forever (Ecc 1:4; Ps 78:69; 89:36-37; 104:5; 148:4-6; Eph 3:21) and that human generations are unending and perpetual (Ps 145:13; Dan 4:3,34; Dan 7:14,18,27; Lk 1:33) and through it all, the Church will never fall (Matt 16:28) and indeed continues through all ages, world without end, amen (Eph 3:21)Is this the Lord separating us by revealing the tares, to bundle them together? Is there another harvest coming? Or will the earth, and humanity on the earth, continue forever?
