If someone starts a fellowship post in the main forum and people come in and start debating against the OP... you don't sent the thread to the debate area! We will report the posts that are debating the OP and the mods get to remove them. But just because people start debating in a fellowship thread that does not mean the thread gets stuck in here.
Let the fellowship threads remain... stomp the debate posts!

I think that is a good point Dids! Gosh I don't do good debating do I? Wasn't this supposed to be a controvery since we are in the debate forum? ;)

It all depends on the type of thread. If it is a clear fellowship thread (according to the definition of fellowship in the Congregation-wide Guidelines), then it won't be moved. If it is a teaching or discussion that turns into a debate, then there is a possibility that, upon staff consensus, a thread may be moved into this subforum. That will be determined by the staff on a case-by-case basis as necessary, usually dependent upon reports generated.

This is ridiculous!

Now we have to come in here as well as checking the other forum because things might be moved here regularly if deemed to be debate.

Who decides what is discussion and what is debate? If we're respectful and loving, who cares which category it falls into anyway? Why can't people just be NICE and stop causing all this aggro so those of us that enjoy discussing and debating and just having fun can do so in peace without petty rules popping up all over the shop?!

For goodness sake, this is an internet forum, debate is par for the course, why are we so afraid of it we have to lock it in a cage all alone?!

Ggggrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Sorry, rant over, whatever....

Yes, par for the course...

I already reported the move of Franky67's thread into the debate forum. It wasn't started as a debate, but it appears to have been moved into the debate area because someone posted a disagreement with the OP.

This is wrong, and sends the wrong message.

Peace...

If it is determined by reports generated then you have just gauranteed that all threads from a WOF perspective will be moved into the debate subforum. There are several Non-WOF members that have clearly stated their intent to do everything possible to get rid of the 'heresy' of WOF, and all of its 'false teachers'. Some have even suggested that WOF be banned from CF all together as a 'cult'.

This is what they consider their mission from God. Not all Non-WOF are of this mind set by any means, but a small vocal minority are. And if they can use the report button to get all WOF perspectives banned to a debate subforum you can be assured that they will do so.

The fact that Franky67's thread was sent here when he posted a positive OP, not attacking anyone else, only stating a theological perspective, is proof of this.

I, for one, will finally leave CF is this is how it is going to be.

Peace...

We are still working on exactly how to handle this Didaskalos - give us a little time :) This is one of the subjects being discussed. Thanks for your patience.

:amen: I think that's a great idea because they don't want to debate or they'd put it there in the first place. To respectfully say you disagree and not bring it up again or argue is not the same as debate

For now, we're still in transition between the two ways of doing things. As the forum rules haven't changed, if you want a thread to be debate-free in the main forum, add the [NO DEBATE] tag to it. Without that tag, depending on the way that the thread progresses/digresses and reports that may be generated from the thread, the staff may decide to move the thread.
