Thanks for those book recommendations, Ceridwen! If you or anyone else here is interested in books by/about MKs or TCKs, Google "mkPLANET", go to their community, and find the link to their library. They list over 100 books.

Also, thanks, Ptilinopus, for posting those TCK jokes! MK members at mkPLANET talk quite in depth about how the TCK life affects missionary kids, but they also manage to laugh at the lighter side of the TCK lifestyle together. Has anyone here read David C. Pollock and Ruth Van Reken's book called "Third Culture Kids"? I would consider it a must-read for MKs (and all TCKs) wanting to know more about how the cross-cultural lifestyle has influenced them.

I'm sorta a MK,My dad was a Missionary in Germany for a couple of years back in the 80's.I also feel a calling into the Ministry,I'm not sure which one yet,Missionary or Pastor?

My parents were missionaries in Brazil from '64 - '73 with a couple years off for good behavior. My Dad went on to live (and preach) in Costa Rica and now Panama. Next stop: Nicaragua.

I may be the only person on G*d's green little earth who joined the army to STOP MOVING.

 

[One day at a time]

I'm a MK and also a PK. My dad was a home missionary to the Indians in northern MN close to the Canadian border. We didn't necessarily felt like MK but our life was like one. Later on my husband and I became missionaries in Mexico and Chile, so my kids are also MKs and PKs.
We loved it when we would come home to the States and the kids would be excited that people talked "regular", and how exciting and funny it was that there was plastic wrapped around cheese slices! Ah....good memories
