Germany’s robotic stores must rest on Sundays, too
Regional chain Tegut forced to close automated shops to comply with centuries-old ban

Alright, I will bypass the paywalls for all of you guys. A Sunday ban makes sense for stores that are manned with employees, to give a rest day, but for an unmanned, robotic store, it makes no sense, unless to level the playing field, so automated stores do not profit on Sundays while everyone else makes no money on that day. And yeah, automated stores should not have an edge over manned stores.Germany’s robotic stores must rest on Sundays, too

At least people won't be doing all their grocery shopping at a gas station. That's a plus. It's a pretty pointless debate. Gas stations are open 24/7 and even small gas stations have a small selection of goods for daily consumption like pasta, canned and frozen food, breakfast spreads, beverages and even toiletries, dog food and cleaning products. Big gas stations rival small supermarkets in their product ranges.
Most gas station chains partner up with a certain grocery chain. For example, this would be photos from a typical shop in an Aral gas station (the 'high end' gas station chain):
Sweets, toiletries, condoms, cleaning products and animal food...
Breakfast cereals, bread, coffee and tea as well as instant food and sauces...
Way too many sweets...
Ready to eat food and sausages ready for the grill
And cold beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
The only difference to a normal supermarket is that all those goods are at a price markup. But when everything else is closed and you need some additional sausages and beer for your sunday barbecue because someone brought unexpected plus ones, your favorite jam started growing mold or you desperately need to clean your clothes for an important job interview, but you ran out of washing powder at 10 pm, what are you going to do?
All of this without any outcry. Guess that the holiness of sundays is not impacted as long as commerce is done at the hallowed ground of gas stations...
