Yeah... i guess. But IMO Christ's suffering is relivant everyday. To say frieday is the best, minimises the importance of calvary on other days, and also lends us to the risk of turning fasting into a religious thing such as ramadan. You should fast when God compels you to do so, not out of your own self. When God compels you to fast, he will give you the strength to carry it out. And when it is done by God's strength and not by your own will power, it brings him due Glory. IMO

jkoziel agrees with the teachings of the fathers. We are instructed by them to fast on Wednesdays (the day of Jesus betrayal) and Fridays (the day of His crucifixion). In addition, we are given extended periods of fasting (Advent, Lent, The Apostles Fast and The Dormition of the Theotokos).

It has been my experience that those who hold the opinion of smilewarrior, generally don't fast at any regular intervals, kinda hit and miss. That is not to say that smilewarrior falls into that category, but the argument does.

Peace.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

pick a day, any day... let the Spirit lead you.
