it’s interesting how what Saints Severus and Philoxenus say has, through the adoption of Theopaschitism, become prevalent among the Eastern Orthodox, which explains why the tense relations depicted here between Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox are no longer the case where it matters most, namely between the Syriac Orthodox and Antiochians, and between the Copts and the Greek Orthodox of Alexandria and the Church of Sinai*
Alas I could wish the film did not anachronistically depict the Chalcedonian clergy with contemporary vestments; after all, they did not depict St. Severus with contemporary Syriac Orthodox monastic garb, although St. Philoxenus was wearing modern vestments. Probably at the time the two sides were actually vested identically.
*An autonomous archdiocese under the omophorion of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, who alas is not on friendly terms with the OO in Jerusalem, but in Jerusalem all the ancient churches are at odds with each other due to the perpetually fraught situation at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
