That is insulting and potentially libellous, despite your ambiguous "venture to say". I recommend you either provide evidence to support your suspicion or withdraw it and offer @The Barbarian an apology.
I am happy to be placed in the same group as other scientists. Failure to substantiate the accusation is all we really need.

If you never have, then what do you do with the decimal place when science says it took something 1000 years to form, then later changes it to 10,000?
Show us that. From the literature, not some creationist blog.

If the theory accommodates both 1,000 years and 10,000 years, then the new evidence or analysis doesn't make the theory stick.
If the theory doesn't, then the new evidence or analysis causes a modification or replacement of the theory, which doesn't make the theory stick.
For example, atoms. The model begins with Democritus and moves through Dalton, Thompson, Rutherford, and Bohr, before today's quantum model. Each was accurate to a degree, but as we learned more, the model changed over time, as the evidence indicated.

But each was true as far as it went. Stoichemetry today is consistent with the findings of Democritus of Abdera, who lived before Christ was born.

It's more common than you think.

I'd venture to say even you've done it.
Repetition of an assertion is not evidence.

Try this.
It's NOT more common than you think - but much LESS common than you think.

See how this works? Only mine is more correct - because I used capitals!

I almost always point out when that decimal point is skated around.

And credit to dlamberth, who started a bunch of threads detailing how time is moved around like mice in a labyrinth.

In large part what I post has to do with the evolution of Homo Sapiens, their migration and their interbreeding with other closely related species which gave birth what we are today. Other than that, the ever changing geology of the Earth is of interest to me which I also post.

How often do you have to keep up with it, lest you get behind?

Do you subscribe to monthly periodicals?

For myself I'm always behind.
Do you subscribe to monthly periodicals?
I do, but not with anything to do with this forum. I guess one could count the local Geological Society I belong to and their periodicals and field trips.

Do you use the Internet to catch up on your beliefs?

(Science or otherwise?)

I use the internet to learn and catch up on all sorts of stuff. But I also read books. I have a pretty good size library.

The change in the climate is increasing the frequency and severity of hurricanes in the Atlantic. This has increased the risk of flooding in Florida (and elsewhere). This has increased the costs of insurance. The invisible hand of capitalism is acting to drive people away from places endangered by climate change.
Here is an interesting documentary on climate change .... takes into account historical information .... it's about 1 hour long but worth the watch

When something bills itself as "the real truth", it's a pretty good sign that it's lying to you.

Except the bible doesn't say it happened the way YOU want it to have happened
The thing is, if it happens by a few centimeters a year, no catastrophic effects. Not surprisingly that's how it happened. It's still happening now, by rates we can measure. As Wegener's research showed, there is abundant evidence that all the continents were one great continent. The break-up was by a few centimeters a year. Which pretty much disposes of YE beliefs. So creationists make all sorts of ludicrous attempts to redo science to get around the facts.

Would you rather they just say GOD DID IT and be done with it?

It's His creation. All science does, is see HOW it was done.

But if anyone disagrees with science with how it was done, would it help you better if they just said GOD DID IT and be done with it?

You accused scientists of moving decimal points to make their theories "stick."

But you can't support your accusation that this is what scientists do.

If so, it's hard to understand why you keep doing it.

But you can't show that it's a common practice? We all know why. If you're going to do that, at least stand up and admit it.

I know better than to make accusations like that. You don't have to support your accusations. But we all notice.
I don't much talk to people who just make things up.
