Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy” (Proverbs 6:15 KJV).

This verse seems a fitting companion to another, as though they belong together although separated by chapters, “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy” (Proverbs 29:1 KJV).

If one thing should be clear, it is the finality of the judgment. It is sudden, and it is complete, and there is no coming back from it. From the first, this end is in sight. God, knowing the end from the beginning, knows that this soul is set in its course, but patiently He waits until his iniquity has run its full course.

We are told that in Sierra Leone the white ants will sometimes occupy a house, and eat their way into all the woodwork, until every article in the house is hollow, so that it will collapse into dust directly it is touched. It is so with this deceitful character, so honeycombed, and eaten through, that though for years it may maintain its plausible appearance in the world, few people even suspecting the extent of the inward decay on a sudden the end will come; there will be one touch of the finger of God, and the whole ill-compacted, worm-devoured thing will crumble into matchwood: "He shall be broken, and that without remedy.”

Not so, for the child of God. “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief” (Proverbs 24:16 KJV). For a Blood-bought believer, we are being fashioned in grace though the process be often painful, yet our hearts are constantly aware of our failure, and we seek His cleansing, forgiveness, and chastening: “Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it” (Jeremiah 18:3-4 KJV).

For the unbelieving scoundrel, judgment is approaching and it will be quick and complete when it falls, for the child of God our judgment fell hard at the Cross on another’s stead, so that we are now becoming that which God would have us to be—through patience and loving care, He is shaping the servant.

Father, how is it possible to comprehend the greatness and mystery of grace. In many ways we may be just as mean as the lost, but though we be sinners and imperfect creatures, we are adopted into Your great family. Keep us mindful of that daily, and daily keep us near the Cross where the cleansing Blood fell and falls. Amen.

Proverbs 6:

Instigating evil.
AKA: Instigating/planning evil without cause.
AKA: "Seeking prey"
AKA: "Shedding innocent blood".
AKA: What God abhors.

Unrepentant stubbornness. What is it?

It is the willful cleaving to, and the relishing of evil, and loving the darkness rather than the Light. It is written that in the last days it will be prevalent, akin to the days of Noah building the ark, and Sodom and Gomorrah, when wickedness reigned supreme, and evil was so thick, even in the air, that it could, in essence, be tasted.

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." ~Jn 3:19

"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy." ~Pr 29:1

God direly warns about the deliberate deception and twisting of what is good and evil, calling good evil, and evil good, and light darkness, and darkness, light.

"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" ~Isa 5:20

Proverbs 6:

Lighting Our Path.

"The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death." ~Pr 14:27

God "lights our way", literally. We can be sure of safe passage when we heed what He says in His Word. It is only possible, however, if we "fear" Him. THAT is the ONLY way to truly "hear" Him.

If we don't take Him seriously ("fear" Him) we are like a boat on a rapids, oblivious to that fast-approaching falls. And we do this in "darkness", blind as bats to what is coming.

Tragic.

"The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened." ~Pr 10:27

Proverbs 6:

God Hates?

"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief," ~Pr 6:16-18

It is written that there are seven things that God abhors. Interestingly enough they are tied right in to a haughty and stubborn Heart, or what is referred to as "stiff-necked".

The above is the absolute epitome of "foolishness" and/or the antithesis to "wisdom".

And when ya' think about it, how utterly foolish IS it to thumb one's nose in the very face of God? WHAT must one be THINKING??!!

We ALL have a "day of reckoning". And that "day of reckoning" is ALWAYS right there before a HOLY God. We must STAND before Him one day. AND what is most noteworthy to give heed to, is that there will be NO mercy or forgiveness at that time. Only JUDGEMENT and SENTENCING.

Therefore, WHY would anyone in their right mind, pass up on the grace that is offered to them RIGHT NOW? The "door of grace" is OPEN. RIGHT NOW. Noah is still preaching as he builds the ark, so to speak. God has NOT closed that door, yet.

There is STILL time.

Let's not be "stiff-necked" and pass up this grace and mercy and forgiveness that God extends to us "right now", as we speak.

Amen?

"He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy." ~Pr 29:1

Proverbs 6:

Tragic Consequences.
AKA: Dust in the wind.

God will not always strive with man, it is written. His strivings with a stubborn, stiff-necked "dismisser" of the living God, and all of His warnings, will come to an end, eventually. The door of grace will be closed, by God Himself, and just like with those outside Noah's ark, there will be sudden destruction, with no remedy. It will be too late.

As it is written:

"behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." ~2 Cor 6:2

The warning? Do not be stiff-necked/stubborn and ignore/dismiss God's calling that NOW is the day of salvation.

Amen?

"Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy." ~Pr 6:15

Proverbs 6:

When God "Hates".

God DOES "hate". He utterly "abhors", especially the seven abominations listed right in Pro 6. Understanding God's hatred for sin is "key" to, and in sync with, understanding His "holiness".

God's "hatred" is NOT "sin". It is perfectly just and holy. It is embodied in His own "Holy wrath". A glimpse of "holy wrath" is given to us when we read about Jesus, overturning tables, and forming a whip and taking it to the money changers, driving them out of the Temple.

It ties right in with the "fear of the Lord", and the bottom line of if we understand it, and DO "fear the Lord". We can NOT know God unless we at first, "fear Him".

It's the very FIRST pre-requisite to being "right" before Him. It is the very thing that "immunizes" us from these dreaded Words: "Depart from me, I never "knew" you."

It is ONLY the "wise" who "know" God, and indeed a "foolish" and tragic thing to NOT "know" Him.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding." ~Pr 9:10

Proverbs 6:

Man of Belial (Personification of Evil.)

"A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy."

"naughty" here is not the "cutesie", "winking" term used in describing a small child who does something benign and harmless. No, in Biblical terms it means "a man of Belial" (personification of evil). In addition, "mischief" used here is not the Tom Sawyer kind of boyish "scrapes", but it means "evil". "Frowardness" (used many times in the Bible) means "perversity".

What these verses are saying is that someone who chooses to continue willfully to do wickedly, will come to an end that is sudden and with no remedy (because they repeatedly rejected it).

These verses tie right into these:
