• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Cayenne

Hello. I have been having heart issues for awhile now, say years. I would have pains in my chest often and it would burn quite often as well. It would be so uncomfortable that it would make me depressed. At times I would even feel the need to throw up because of the feeling my chest was giving.

I currently have been trying something new... which is to take half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and add it to hot water, like a tea. From doing this it has been alleviating the problems, though I still have them. I am wondering if anyone else has tried cayenne this way and have been successful in curing a problem?

Hi. I'm sorry you are having such difficulties. I'm glad the cayenne helps. I have not tried it except in some recipes. All I can say is that I think you need a doctor check up. All the best to you. My prayers go out to you my friend.

If the pain really is that bad, and you can't remember the last time you went to see a doctor, then I think at the very least you should get a checkup.

That said, I never knew cayenne could be used to alleviate... anything. Other than an urge for spicy food, anyway.

Me either, but I am surprised.

Some call it a herb, some call it a spice, it's technically both. :)
