The op made a claim. I typed in 'covid amish' and the very first two articles that came up were those to which I linked and they refuted the op's claim. Pointing out how easy it was to refute was the end of the matter as far as I was concerned. I've zero interest in digging up specific covid data for obscure religious groups to perpetuate this thread.

You: "I guess if you look long enough then you'll find something to support whatever view you have.

'The Amish communities of northeast Ohio engage in textbook communal living. Families eat, work and go to church together, and through the pandemic, mask-wearing and social distancing have been spotty. As a result, these communities have experienced some of the state's highest rates of infection and deaths.' COVID-19 Has Hit The Amish Community Hard. Still, Vaccines Are A Tough Sell

'Claims on social media that the Amish population has not been affected by COVID-19 are false. Such claims have been used to suggest that vaccines are futile.' Fact Check-Amish communities have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

That took me all of a few seconds to find. Now either you copied your info from some social media site or you would have known about those two reports (almost the first two that come up if you search 'Amish covid'.

We generally expect some doubling down at this stage."

Clearly you were refuting the poster to which you were responding.

But very few Amish have had Covid and been hospitalized or died. Maybe everyone was exposed, like millions of Americans, and are immune.

So what do you think is the explanation for the surge of excess Amish deaths during the pandemic?

Please show me the surge, in numbers v. population.

'As such, using obituaries published in an Amish and Mennonite correspondence newspaper allows us to track patterns in the number of deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic and compare to patterns of death over the past five years. We find the number of fatalities among Amish and Mennonites did indeed increase in the 2020 pandemic and followed similar trend lines of deaths in the USA.

The large number of excess deaths among the Amish and Mennonite community is concerning, as it indicates not only the presence, but the impact of COVID-19 on this community. I posted the graph of excess deaths and linked to the published paper with the numbers and methodology of the study... do you want to see the bodies?

As long as the Amish die rightly then fine

I'm worried atheists are unprepared

Well, you don't believe in God and I guess you'd say that you are prepared. Why think that I'm not?

Because you reject the afterlife

And this is dangerous from a Buddhist perspective

I think that being prepated is coming to terms with what you think happens after death. Whatever it is.

You don't know this, you think this

There can't be anything more definite. If I am right and I return to the same state that I was in before I was born - non-existence, then I won't be around to feel pleased about how right I was.

If I am wrong and I am still here (or somewhere else) in some way, then I will know I was wrong.

Let me know if there's a third option that I missed.

I know before you were born you kept the five precepts

Since that is the requirement to become a human being

And since I've been born I've broken each of them. So...annihilation for me? Or back as something else? I hope not a carnivore or I'll never get back to being a human.
