How the Establishment Selects Candidates and the Prospects for Kristi Noem.

Few of us expect the news to be fair as most journalists are left leaning and even Fox sometimes is guilty of titillating its readers with conservative views that are off base. Such errors and omissions in political stories are not what I am talking about here. Instead, a historical focus on how elites in the media signal the overall choice of those who are monied and are wishing to install candidates that will align with their interests. This does not mean that all elites agree, but in general, they as a group try to influence picks by giving praise or degrading political candidates.

An example of elitism occurred with the selection of John Kerry and George Bush as presidential candidates. Both were members of Skull on Bones, a secret Yale University society. Sounds pretty harmless? Perhaps, but regardless of who won, they both would serve the establishment well. What many might fail to understand is that there is a sort of code, and as a whole elites will reach out to those they see as future prospects and give them internships and opportunities that others will not get. This is how we get a Supreme Court made up of mostly Ivy League graduates. Yes, they are some of the best, but of course there are many graduates from large state institutions that would be equally good. Others have penned that there needs to be more diversity on the court in their academic backgrounds. Justice Barret remains (a Trump Appointee) who graduated from Notre Dame is the only justice that is not from an Ivy League school. Kilgore labels this Ivy League Snobbery Supreme Court Ivy League Snobbery Is a Recent Development The point is that non-Ivy league graduates rarely can move to the top because there is an artificial glass ceiling.

I once remember a Congressional Campaign where the candidate seemed to be a Washington insider that had not lived in my red state for some years. I asked him about some of his funding and he told me that one such elite group only donated 20,000. I could not help to wonder why D.C. groups would be so supportive? Because there is an insider/outsider mentality in politics especially at the national level. Having studied and watched politics, candidates and interest groups for many decades, we should be aware that many candidates and those around them have a rock star persona. I have seen political groupies that follow campaigns around in hopes of having personal contact. Some like VP Harris take it so far as to have affairs to gain political ground. Trump too uses politics to help him be successful but he entered as an outsider and did not especially pander to other politicians other than what was important in his business dealings Former S.F. Mayor Willie Brown writes about dating Kamala Harris, appointing her to posts

My point is that everyone should be aware that candidate selections are highly influenced by outside groups. More importantly that these groups generally do not represent Christian Americans. Yes, there are some legitimate Christian politicians that are outsiders. Elites only really need a majority, so some influential politicians slip by. Not a single state is immune from elitism, though it is harder for these groups to make headway into the tougher red states. Romney is a perfect example. A Washington insider from another state that basically went to Utah to become a Senator. Elites do not typically care about religion except they love it when it helps their guys win elections. Some are false, because they use religion to gain voters but they have little to do with a Christian agenda, their agenda is the elites.

Some would argue that Trump is an elite, primarily because of his contacts and fame. While one could make a case like that Trump basically is his own man and though he traversed in elite circles, he made choices that elites hate, he upset the status quo. This is why some vehemently oppose Trump, including media elites. Trump is not an elite team player and he is dangerous.

It goes much deeper than just elites selecting their own. Using the media elites tear down other candidates that might hurt their agenda. Their agenda is basically a New World Order, with all the trimmings. It is not an American agenda, it is a business agenda, that melds politics and mega-corporations to each other.

Additionally, there are numerous examples of elites tearing down potential candidates. Howard Dean for instance was picking up steam as a potential upset democratic nominee against John Kerry. Media replayed his scream endlessly for a couple of weeks, to discourage voters from giving him the democratic nomination. Dan Quayle, misspelling Potato, at an elementary school, was subject to unfair ridicule which seemingly ended his political career. Nearly every candidate makes miscues, some are just reported in an unfavorable light. Often it is those that do not subscribe to the elite agenda. Sarah Palin would be another example. Her miscues were partly her own making but the media constantly opposed her.

In bringing all of this together, a possible casualty of the 2024 election is the reporting on Governor Kristi Noem. The negatively on the dog shooting is unjustified. Even a Fox article today basically gives her little chance. I am not saying she is the only good choice, but I can say she is a true outsider, a non-establishment candidate. She is a Foursquare Gospel Christian, who rose through the ranks in South Dakota. SD is a state with strict term limits on their state legislature. It is a part-time job paying just 14,000 a year and hardly an attraction for the greedy. She rose to the top and even helped bring some innovation such as requiring SD universities to have a balance of conservatives and liberals in their faculty. Having seen her in a number of interviews, she is articulate and knowledgeable. She would be both caring and informed on nearly every public policy. Sorry, but Trump has some great instincts but he is not a detailed policy wonk. With Noem or whoever Trump chooses, the VP would have a real role. SD too is a no-nonsense state. It is not a strategic pick, but strategic does not necessarily bring the best candidate. Regardless of who the VP choice is, may this article hone our discernment to understand more about politics and candidate selection. As we pray for government may Trump select the person of the only "true and lasting" establishment of our God.

I have no conflicts of interest or direct dealings with Governor Noem. I just see a rarity in her and pray God continues to use her in the highest capacity that is possible. God bless!

To update this blog, I found an article that reinforces parts of what is written here. No mention of Gov. Noem but still some good picks. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/05/08/don...onors-want-a-say-.html?recirc=taboolainternal
