"'Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.'" (Luke 8:14)
So, cares and riches and pleasures can choke us from how we could be loving.
How, by the way, can pleasures keep us from loving? I understand that if I use people for pleasure, using them is not loving them. This includes how lust can have me using women just to look at them. So, lust is anti-love.
It is good to personally care for each and every person, and not to just use anyone.
And our Apostle Paul says what to do, "first of all" > 1 Timothy 2:1-4. To me, this means to pray with care and hope for any and all people. This keeps me busy with loving, instead of only trying to use God and people for what I want.
