Fearmongering. That is my thought on the video. The thumbnail looks like clickbait, with the nuclear explosion on it.

Yes, best to avoid such videos.

I'm not a fan of this guy. The fact that he has sacred images on his "common" clothing just rubs me the wrong way.

That’s what I was thinking. Also how his channel is showing miracles like he’s looking for them? If I understand correctly we are not supposed to look for signs or wonders, correct?

I used to watch Pete's channel a lot a couple years ago but had to stop because the subject matter was scaring me and stressing me out. He has some miracles on there that I found edifying and helpful. From my interactions with him and watching so many videos I found him to be very sweet and sincere and in no way looking for clicks. He really believes in what he is doing and wants to witness Eastern Orthodoxy as the ark of salvation and this is his platform to do it. I'm not 100% sold on the prophesies part and didn't find it very helpful but rather stressful, so I just stopped watching altogether. He posts the miracles to witness to the Saints of our church and to show it's alive and well. That's just my two cents after having spent time as an interacting viewer of his.

Well, I'll put it this way: in the Bible, false prophets get stoned. Without that check, it seems people get loosey goosey about things.

I'm not convinced broadcasting miracles is actually a good idea either.

Prophets who told the Israelites to go after other Gods got stoned. I don't see where false prophets got stoned.

I feel the same way, depending on the miracle.

I've seen his videos, but I agree with others here. Also, I don't think sharing miracles to bring people in, to get people interested (at least that's how I feel) is what Orthodoxy is about. Miracles are simply what God does that is a regular part of Him, if you will. Mother (Saint now) Gavrilia said something along those lines. It's just what He does. In any case, if a person is only drawn to the Church because of the miracles, then I don't think that will sustain them and it's about a relationship with the Triune God.

Agreed, Dot. Some of us will never witness miracles, and some of us will witness one and expect more if that’s our mindset. We come to Orthodoxy because it’s the Church the Lord founded and sustained through Councils, Saints, Fathers, Hierarchs, and monks for 2,000 years. Orthodoxy is literally “straight/right teaching.” That’s what we come for….that, and the Holy Mysteries.

There are many fantastic stories that seemed to have been conjured up as “miracles”. One would think that if these were true that better things might happen in this world for more people.

It seems that outside observers of the early Christians understood a sense of the miraculous in their witness. This was based on observation and understanding, not embellishments. This was based on that the Christians would pray for themselves and all people ( like St. Paul says in 1 Timothy 2:1-6 for ex.).

The account of St. Aristides, I believe, is most valuable. St. Aristides recorded his account before he became Christian ( but was well on his way). He noted that it is prayer that permits this world to go on.

And to me there is no doubt but that the earth abides through the supplication of the Christians.

St. Aristides knew the true God at this point and realized His forbearance and grace in all of this. This is what is probably so crucial and miraculous in this realization is in the aspect of abiding by faith of the Christian ( like the Lord tells us in John 15:1-10). He noted that the world abides and the Christian is told to abide and the Lord said this is based on keeping His commandments.

This world seems like a mental asylum existing with unstable natural forces. Our God does not wish for souls to be condemned & there seem to be many who might be saved in ways only He knows ( Ezekiel 18:23, Ezekiel 18:4-9, etc.).

I realize I am partially rambling, realizing my sinful shortcomings ( Philippians 2:12) etc. I do believe there is an ongoing miracle in the Christian aspect of endurance for ourselves & our neighbor ( 1 Corinthians 13:1-13).
