I get what you are trying to say, but no person or group of persons can live the entire Bible, no more than we can be a living testimony to all mathematics, science, history, poetry, or literature.

I certainly agree that we must be the light in this world of darkness and live as a witness to the power of the Gospel to transform men and women's lives However, acceptance and repentance is the beginning of the Christian experience, not the end. Christ's command was that we make disciples. Peter commands that we be ready to give an answer to all men for the REASON of the hope that dwells within us (1 Pet 3:15). Therefore, I have to ask the following questions.

How are we going to relive the plagues that befell Egypt? How are we going to relive the Feast of Tabernacles? The feast of the New Moon? The feast of Pentecost? How are we going to show the construction and importance of the Tabernacle? The blessings and curse motifs of Deut. 26? How are we going to live the Assyrian captivity of the northern tribes and the reason for their demise?

How shall we relive the Babylonian captivity of Judah and Benjamin? The destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem under the Babylonians, the desecration and polluting of it under the Ptolemies and Seleucids? The desecration and the need to rebuild the implements and furniture of the Temple under the Maccabees due to Antiochus Epiphanes sacrifices of swine on the alter and sprinkling of pigs blood in the Holy of Holies? The reconstruction of the Temple under Nehemiah and Ezra? The revival under King Josiah?

How are we going to live the lives of the Judges? Of Samson, Jephthah, Deborah, etc? How are we going to relive Paul and Silas arrest and imprisonment and their subsequent release? How do we live the prophesies of Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekial, Daniel, Hosea, Nahum, Malachi, and John the Beloved, etc?

How are we going to relive the life that the people of Palestine lived during Roman occupation before Titus and after Titus? How do we live and portray God's anointing of David as King of Israel and how God can used mightily flawed men? How are we going to relive the stoning of Stephen? How are we going to relive the Sermon on the Mount? The Beatitudes? The feeding of the 5,000? How are we going to address the Council of the first century Church in Jerusalem? The raising of Lazarus after 4 days?

How do we relive the councils of Trent, Laodicea, Hippo, and Carthage? How do we relive the history and teachings of Clement and Polycarp, and Ignatius? How do we relive the wisdom in Iraeneus' Against Heresies and the history of the Church as covered by Eusebius? If it were not for these early Church fathers, we would not have the teachings of the church preserved, the Apostolic Creed, or the Bible you read today. Most of the doctrines the Church holds today were put forth by these early bishops and defenders of the faith in the first, second, third, and fourth centuries. It is like saying we love America but know nothing of the history of its founding, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the wars, and sacrifices made to preserve it.

We cannot say we live and would die for the Holy Writ, if we are not teaching and understanding what is says and why. I will guarantee you that the Atheist and the Agnostics know Scripture better than most Christians do and that is part of the problem and why our world has lost its faith and trust in the Church. Far too many believe, but they do not know why they believe what they do and cannot defend those beliefs.

Please do not take this as a personal indictment. It is meant as a general Church indictment. Look at the early Church in America during the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Look at their history and practice of making disciples. Are we doing the same today?

What I meant was we should live biblical values of fidelity, compassion, love and generosity.
