Frustrated about trying to get new hearing aids

I was born with sensorineural hearing loss - the same kind that usually is linked to getting old. My right ear is slightly worse than the left but both ears are in the moderate-to-severe range. That rules out all hearing aids people can buy without a prescription. So does the fact that they must be custom in-the-ear rechargeable hearing aids. My mom needs to spend thousands of dollars on my next pair despite the new law that makes buying them much easier for millions of other people in America.

An audiologist told me the best hearing aid model for me would cost nearly $5,700 l (including the battery charger). A hearing instrument specialist, who is not an audiologist, thinks Signia is the best brand, but I am sure that is because he only works with the company that makes Signia products. I did research and discovered that to be the case. So he is strongly biased in favor of a company that my audiologist told me she does not like at all. It is obvious who to believe about the Signia hearing aids.

But the hearing instrument specialist offered a much better price: $3,200. My mom is penny-pinching now, which is the only reason we went to a hearing instrument specialist in the first place. She decided to take me there because under my health insurance plan, all appointments with him are free and there is a 20% discount on everything Mom buys from him. That is why she would only have to pay $3,200 for two in-the-ear rechargeable hearing aids and the charger. Nobody else is covered by Humana.

I am afraid Mom will knowingly buy a bad pair of hearing aids for me next year because I can't wait for her to come up with the money to buy what my audiologist recommended.

Mom told me today I have no choice because of money alone. She is done listening to me and does not care why my audiologist thinks Signia is a bad hearing aid brand. If I had a choice, I would do whatever it takes to buy the hearing aids my audiologist recommended. But she refuses to accept the fact that if an audiologist does not like Signia, it is not very good just because a hearing instrument specialist who only works with that company loves the brand. I badly need support here because there is nothing I can say or do to make my mom change her mind.

Did you try to do a google shopping search to see if you could find a better price? There is a lot of mark up on hearing aids so people could well afford to sell them for less.

I have to get them locally because of the custom molds, so trying that would be useless.

Mom did call a Costco store in Jacksonville, but as I would expect, the model I need is not there.

So I can only hope the model I will get really is one of the best hearing aids on the market.

The LOA people talk about how we can manifest anything we want. We do not have to figure out how, just trust God that He is going to provide for us. He does give us the desires of our hearts. The only question is when.

The Law of Attraction. They have a lot of videos on youtube. They talk a lot about positive energy and how we can manifest what we want in life. Oprah had a lot of LOA people on her show. She is worth $3.5 billion and she attributes that to the Law of Attraction. They say she has the golden touch. For me the main focus is that people need to avoid negative energy.

My new pair of hearing aids will be Signia Insio Charge&Go AX. I know this is only for financial reasons even if that model is among the best and cannot be convinced otherwise, but have not heard or read anything bad about them.

I am 45. Getting a job is impossible for many reasons, including my hearing loss. But if someone paid me to work at home and exclusively communicate via email I could get one.
