They know that don't have evidence. When Comer got the bank records he could clearly see the payment and repayment trail.
But he thought he could paint it a certain way to gain political points. Perhaps he thought Fox News and other right wing shows would go along with his nonsense and obscure when the Democrats showed the truth of the matter.
This approach has been working for Trump for many years.

It's laughable that the Republicans were going after Biden for a 300,000 cheque which was a loan repayment, and they were hiding the fact it was a repayment.

That's the point ... the election .... basically Republicans are bringing forth what they consider to be evidence ... but again .... actual impeachment will not occur because it would have to go to the senate and the senate has democratic majority and regardless of any "evidence" brought forth they would never impeach. So, yeah what they are bringing forth in the impeachment inquiry (an investigation) is being disclosed and that could influence voters minds in how they vote.

The president’s tax returns are supposed to be audited by the Treasury Department each he is in office. The Ways and Means committee is not a part of that. By 2022, Donald had been out of office for a year.

The Treasury Department doesn’t need to request the returns as they are the ones that possess any and all that are filed; however, they neglected to perform the mandatory yearly audit under his term.

How slow are House Republicans that this isn't already finished? I mean, they had more than enough time to hold hearings where their witnesses said that Biden didn't do anything illegal. You'd think if the real evidence was in the tax returns they'd have focused on them first rather than embarrassing themselves like that.
