I have no idea what sort of sorting method a "laptop" repair shop uses. I can't imagine it sat in a drawer with a bunch of other laptops.
"Sorting method?" Not sure why they would need to sort between machines in for repair. From what I've seen, most repair shops have a copy (or even the original) copy of the repair order the customer signs with the machine. Some repair shops attach them directly to the machine with tape (though the paperwork is likely in a plastic document sleeve), others might have a bin the computer is placed into with a spot for the paperwork to be "mounted" on the front of the bin (to make it easy to find the machine when they go to repair it or when the customer picks it up. It is important for that paperwork to stay with the machine, not just for when the customer picks it up, but also to know what needs to be repaired, what the status of the repair is (such as if it is waiting for parts), etc. If there is no paperwork with the machine (such as the customer taking the paperwork with them), not only do you not know whose machine it is but have no idea what work is supposed to be performed (disk failure, water damage, upgrade installation, etc).
The turnaround was supposed to be short though. A week or two? It may not have been clearly labeled with the client expected back quickly. Perhaps the client gets the paperwork and he would need it to identify the laptop.
That's nice. Still, weird as it sounds, people forget where they took their computer to be repaired, or when it is supposed to be ready. It is why there typically is a requirement to call the owner to remind them that their machine is ready to be picked up.
So you contact a local lawyer and let them know, or maybe you contact local law enforcement in addition to federal law enforcement. You don't go to the lawyer of a political figure that is out to protect and help them, not you. Particularly one in another state that doesn't have a license for your state.Regardless, I'm not going to blame the shop owner for Hunter's crackhead move. He's the idiot dropping incriminating evidence in the hands of regular people and forgetting about it.
Well typically you wouldn't want to give it to everyone. However when we're talking about the sort of people who can have you jailed or Epsteined at any time....you would be a moron not to keep a copy and distribute several others. That's why this guy didn't get dropped off a bridge somewhere. He's smart.
And this is only if you assume your conspiracy theories are correct -- to the best of my knowledge, there was never any threat by the FBI. Rather, the only threats came from individuals after the contents of the laptop were made public -- it was going to Giuliani that caused threats.
