I'll admit that for years I thought it said "Give me a laser down this road I must travel..." and "Give me a laser through the darkness of the night..." It wasn't until I googled the lyrics that I realized I was way off on its lyrics. Lol. The song came out when I was 12, many years before the internet.

I'll share one of my misheard lyrics. For years I thought JBJ was saying "on a stale horse I ride." I always wondered why he would be on a stale horse? Is it tired? My sister heard me singing to it once and said, as a sister would, "It's a steel horse, you idiot." Hahaha.

Yes, I know. I've posted this Tom Petty song before, more than once already. But being that's it's one of my favorites, I thought I'd post it yet again. Besides, I just wanted to take a Hermeneutical moment to bring to your attention the little revelatory box that ol' Tom has in his little mits in the music video below. If you'll notice, it's apparently made of snake skin, and what with the spiritual (maybe even biblical?) allusions provided in the video, I think that snake skin box just about......SAYS IT ALL!
