I detest having these numbers rise and fall before me daily and encouraging me to gage my life by it, all of that just seems like a rigged game anyway.
As much as we can we prepare, living rurally and in an area where hurricanes come through its almost expected we do so because we would be almost impossible to reach in many of the scenarios and certainly wouldnt be the first on the list to reach (anytime soon).
I cant say I get excited over having to mind these things for the present situation, I would actually prefer to forget them. I hate sifting through materials for knowledge that should have been passed down to me (and second nature to me by now) had our parents not let go of it.
I wouldnt encourage confidence in all your laid up "stuff", a faulty electrical wire, or some crazy pyro can bring your preparations nought in a manner of minutes.
I tried to keep that in mind, you are never really prepared for everything.
