5 Do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?

The Holy Spirit (Paraclete) dwells within us in our human spirit.

Which Scripture was that?

James combined several verses.

Moses spoke to Joshua in Numbers 11:

29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”

Psalm 51:

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

Ezekiel 36:

26 I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Joel 2:

28 And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions

These OT verses were fulfilled. After the last supper, Jesus told his disciples in (Berean Standard Bible) John 14:

16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate [Paraclete] to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth.

Now, the Paraclete dwells in us permanently.
