If you read the bible and sense the kind, benevolent, forgiving nature of God then you will find that as well.

This is so true.

I've often considered the bible to act as a mirror. What one sees therein doesn't say as much about the bible as it does the individual person looking at it.

Actually, that's pretty much how all of reality is. As the saying goes, we don't see things as *they* are, we see them as *we* are.

"To the pure, all things are pure," (Titus 1:15)
