Yahushua, Yahusha or Jesus?

A little Bible study that I did on the name of our Lord Jesus. What are your opinions on it? I believe that salvation is in the name of Jesus or in any of the previous forms of the name. People claiming only salvation under one transliteration of the name are making confusion and divide the body of Christ.

I think if you have a preference, it's OK to use that. However, He knows you mean Him, and that's all that matters.

Several years ago there was a pastor who said that if you used Jesus' full name when you pray in His name, then the prayer is more powerful, and demons will understand that you mean Him specifically. He said that the full name was "Jesus of Nazareth," because, you wouldn't want to confuse him with a Jesus from another town.

I tried praying like that a little bit. It felt nice to say, but the prayers weren't answered any better than they had been before or since. I don't think it is wrong to say it. I do think it is wrong to claim you have to or those in the spiritual realm won't know who you mean, or that your prayer life is more powerful if you do.

Yet the Greek New Testament translates his name Iesous, something that his Mother wouldn't have called him either. Seems to me we have in that a reasonable basis for anglicising the name of our Lord when the Apostles Hellenised it. It didn't seem to ever be much of a problem until Hebrew roots came up with this idea in the 21st century.

Yeshua is the Aramaic equivalent of Joshua. (Yehoshua)

Like I said in my video, the name was TRANSLITERATED, not translated. If we would translate the name of the Lord in English today, we would call him LITERALLY GodSaves. I also said that the name of our Lord Jesus in any form of transliteration in any alphabeth is the name by which we are saved. Anyone grabbing on one version of the name claiming it to be superior to other transliterations is trying to make division in the church of God. That is the reason I made the video, to show that the "version" of His name is not important as long as you know in your heart that you are calling upon the name of our Lord! One and only messiah, Son of God, God manifest in flesh.

Well it's certainly not Yahushua or Yahusha, because neither of those are names in either Hebrew or Aramaic.

In Hebrew the two forms of the name are Yehoshua and Yeshua. That name in Aramaic depends on the form of Aramaic, with "Yeshua" being pretty close to how it probably would have been pronounced in the language Jesus and His family spoke; other Aramaic forms include Yesho, Yeshu', Isho, and Eshoa. Of course the entire reason we have "Jesus" is a simple matter of transliteration, in Greek the standard transliteration is IHΣOYΣ/ΙHCOYC/Ἰησοῦς (Iesous), and from there into Latin as IESVS/Iesvs/Iesus and finally English Jesus.

Fact is when the Hebrews came out of Babylon captivity they were no longer speaking anything like ancient Hebrew, they were speaking Aramaic. Also, fact is no one knows what it sounded like and even modern Hebrew is nothing like ancient Hebrew. Also, look up a group of people called the Masoretes, they are the ones who introduced the vowel into the language because it was not there. The Masoretes were Talmudic Babylon Jews btw.....

That is why I made the video, if you watch it until the end than you see that. True and they are missing the gospel entirely. I ask them do you follow Jesus or Torah? Let's take passover for example. I have a friend that observes passover. I said, have you not read that Jesus during passover gave us communion? During that passover Jesus gave us communion and explained a NEW COVENANT. Jesus is the passover, the passover from death to life, the who passover feast was always pointing to the messiah, Jesus. We no longer celebrate the "passover" we celebrate Jesus by communion in remembrance, reflection, repentance, because now we have a savior and we follow the Spirit of the Law through the Holy Spirit, not the letter of the law through Moses.

To point out all who observed passover had to do so in Jerusalem. So unless you are flying to Jerusalem for passover you are already not observing it biblically. That is if you want to be technical.

It does matter because there is a sense of spiritual elitism that exudes from those who insist that is the name. Do some research on language and who the Masoretes were and you will come to the same conclusion. Ancient Hebrew was a dead spoken language for a long time and know one knows what it sounded like. I have an Assyrian Christian friend who speaks Aramaic fluently, he says Jesus .

Actually the scripture about jealousy is that they will be jealous of your freedom from the law, traditions of men and ultimately your intimate relationship with Jesus, the Father, Holy Spirit. Not what Sid Roth teaches.....

Amen, brother, I know about the masorete vowel points and pronounciation of original Hebrew being a "mystery". I will do deeper research, I still believe that by calling our Lord Jesus or Yehushua or Yeshua for that matter is irrelevant if you know you're caling upon the name of the Lord. And ofcourse if you are saved by faith through grace of our God. Believing in gospel written in 1Cor.15:1-4.
