Has anyone heard of church where in worship some people are jumping up and down? The first time I saw that in church, it made me think people were on pogo sticks...! LOL
Jan

When a person is filled with the Spirit, and the Spirit becomes active through that person, many things can happen. There is a feeling of exilleration and joy as that person knows he is one-in-spirit with God.

I've seen that and many other manifestations happen in church. It is always a good and positive thing, as it shows the presense of God.

Okay. But you need to use your God-given common sense in church moshing. I don’t mosh (i.e., jump up and down) at Wal-Mart, the grocery store, doctor’s waiting rooms, the library, symphonic concerts, university classroom lectures, funerals, wedding ceremonies and a lot of other public events where it is not well-mannered to do so, either. But I may mosh at a rock concert, pep rally, or ballgame, where it is acceptable.

I may mosh at a Penetcostal campmeeting and some live-wire Charismatic churches where it is acceptable but maybe not in a liturgical Anglican worship service where it is not.

Depends on your surroundings whether some behavior is decent and in order.

Sincerely,
~Jack Pot

The last time someone got disgusted about how her husband worshipped God, she was barren the rest of her life.

Know who I am speaking of?

Never poke fun or judge another man's worship or praise to God.

It's all about freedom. When David danced before the Lord with all his might and with wareing nothing but an an epod he didn't do so because the Spirit of the Lord came upon him. He did so because he wanted to.

Jim, I'm impressed that you are familar with that 'yoof' term!! I love moshing too but as you say, there's a time and a place. But principally I don't mosh because I'm too busy with my flags!!

Sure, but be careful. For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, Gal. 5.13.

The Bible neither commends nor condemns what David did. It just reports that he danced before the Lord with all his might. You approve of what he did because you enjoy doing it, but it is wrong to say that 2 Samuel 6 gives either justification for or prohibition against doing it. It does neither.

Sincerely,

 I can agree with that statement.
But I believe the bible was commending David for doing so and in fact his wife was barren becuase she didn't approve. In Psalms 149 and 150 it says dance before the Lord, so that would be good and in order with God. However when you are in a church that does not believe in that, then you shouldn't

^_^ I promoted concerts for more than a decade. I did more than 50 cocnerts in all and I liked the rock concerts the best. The only time I got in a mosh pit (check my age) was at a Newboys/Steve Taylor concert in the mid-90s. Those big old boys liked to have killed me. It was like someone had yelled “fire” in a Dallas Cowboy locker room and I was in the doorway.

Please read post #9, it was Davids wife Michal that suffered judgement for making such a big deal about Davids behavior. Are you making a deal, big or small, of the fact that some people want to jump up and down when in worship to their God?

LOL, for one thing, I do not dance naked in church or in public so no I don't enjoy doing that, but the point is that David used freedom in his worship. That is the point of 2 Samuel 6.

I agree, when you are in a church that doesn't worship freely.....you should respect what they do find acceptible.

True, but one man's worship to God, regardless if He is moved on BY THE SPIRIT or NOT, is still Holy unto the Lord and shouldn't be judged or critisized.

Who is the One being worshipped here?

Freedom is to give to God the Worship due His Name. Not by some rule or code or standard.
