I'm not Catholic but will say a lot of Catholics use the RSV and most Catholic study Bibles are RSV. I own the Didache Study Bible and it reads like the KJV but "revised" hence the name. https://www.amazon.ca/Didache-Bible-James-Socias-al/dp/1939231140

It's a gorgeous Bible and would make a good addition, Just not looking for a Catholic influenced Bible.

It contains the Catechism in the footnotes and inserts. It's a handy way to read the Catechism along side scripture.

According to comments left on both Matt Fradd’s and Breaking In The Habit’s Youtube reviews of this Bible, it uses the NRSV Catholic translation.

It will be released in mid-June in leather bound and hardcover editions and the leather cover will cost $59.99.

The pages are thick with gilded edges, it has essays by Bishop Barron and quotations from Church Fathers, gorgeous full color reproductions of great artwork and IMO, the layout of the pages will facilitate slow and meditative reading.

It contains the Gospels only but this Bible is so beautiful that I’m going to save my pennies for the leather bound version.

I have the Didache Bible and love it and highly recommend it. It uses the RSV-CE2 translation and is published by Ignatius Press. You can purchase it directly from the publisher on their website.

There are plentiful notes/footnotes that are tied into the Catechism which are excellent and orthodox. It also has about 100 topical essays scattered throughout the Bible.

Which could be a good reason why the denomination I'm looking at, Episcopal, recommends it as one of their official Bibles to use.

You are most likely correct (although I’ve read that it’s the approved translation used in Masses in Canada and the UK).

I feel OK with that translation because although I don’t own many Bibles, the Bibles I do own fall along the more orthodox spectrum of translations: RSV-CE2 translations (Didache Bible and the Ignatius Study Bible NT), the NABRE, the NKJV, the ESV Study Bible (very Reformed slant in the study notes), the CSB, the NLT, the Douay Rheims, and the Confraternity NT.

My favs to read are the RSV, the ESV and the NKJV, so there are other versions to compare the NRSV with.

I’m still Catholic but also attended an Episcopalian church a few times early this year (and loved it). Don’t know how liberal that church is — it was very Catholic. However, they did use the NRSV translation in their liturgy and in their adult Bible study group.
