At soft ball the other night, I have began to notice one of the gals more. She is very cute and seems happy. So, I have began to watch her more and try to learn more about her. We have already talked a bit. She seems to be alone but, wears a ring on her left ring finger. I have tried not to be obvious and stare at it but, am curious. It does not appear to be a wedding band. It does not even look like a normal engagement ring either but, hard to be sure.
I know some single women have been know to wear a wedding ring at times. I had a close woman friend who did that. She was divorced but, wore the ring anyway. she would tell me she did not want to be bothered by men at the time. I can understand that.

But, why would a gal wear a ring on her left hand if she was single? I know, I may be too traditional but, that is not a bad thing.

So, do the women here wear rings on their left hand? hmm

Well one reason could be so men leave her alone. It wouldnt stop all men, but it would stop most men from coming on to her.

Another reason is she could just like the ring and it only fits that finger.

If you really want to know best to ask her as to why. You dont have to be up in her business. Simply ask if she is married or comment of the assumption of her being married. If she wants to tell you her reason.... then you'll know. If she doesnt answer of says "yes" to being married, even if not true it tells you all you need to know.

She could be married and see no need for a traditional ring.

thanks for the reply but, it is rare that one would actually have to ask that. If they are attached, that normally comes up in the conversation very soon. It is just too direct. If she says no than, she may be expecting to know why you asked. I may not be that interested, she is just a woman of interest at this time. She lives in the same area as I do so, it should not take much to learn more about her, or her about me.

Well, you are interested enough to ask reasons as to why in a forum.

The best way to find out us to talk to her, at best you get general guesses on this forum.

If you talk to her then you will have your answer.... direct or not, doesnt matter. If she is of interest now but wont be later that's the point of getting to know someone.

Just cause you express interest at first doesnt commit you to marry her just cause you liked her initially.

As I said you can be direct or you can guide the conversation in a direction that gets you your answer. Either way there are ways to find out from her.

1. She just wants to.

2. That's the finger it fits and she likes the ring so she wants to wear it without losing it.
3. She doesn't want to date and wants guys to leave her alone.
4. It's a purity ring.
5. She's engaged and it's a non traditional ring.

If you really want to know; tell her it's a cool ring and you want to know where she got it. If she's friendly towards you she will probably elaborate.

When I was working retail I got a lot of unwanted attention from sketchy dudes and not so sketchy dudes. I hated it when I was hit on at work. So I bought a ring. That solved that problem.

Primarily because she doesn't want to be asked out for whatever is her personal reason. The one exception would be if she was wearing many rings, then it is probably because she likes rings. Women who want to date would know the significance of that finger and leave it "naked".

I had a thread a while back about should a single woman buy/wear a wedding ring. Well I did buy a wedding ring set because I thought it was soooo gorgeous! I've worn it a coupla times. All of my life I never paid attention to wedding rings because I'm single by choice but one night looking at jewelry wedding rings popped up, I was like wow what beautiful rings. That's when I thought I would like one of those. So I bought one and that scratched that itch. I spent a pretty penny too. A whole $10 and some change! I guess I'm in the jewelry camp. They're my fingers and I can do what I want!

Yeah, it's either a purity ring, a non-traditional engagement/wedding ring, or she just likes wearing jewelry. Like others said, you'd have to ask that specific girl to know why, as the answers will vary.

To be honest, I think that IS the reason. You see rings on every finger these days, including the thumb. Whatever fits best, innit...

If that worked, it makes sense. Would think though that, sketchy ( creepy ?) guys would not care or not know? hmm

I would think the same thing. She did not have any other rings on her left hand
