I think it is fitting of Mary as perhaps she is the best representative of the church that Jesus gave all for, both the church prior to Christ and after.
Chapter 11 describes the person appearing in Chapter 12. "And the temple of God was opened in heaven: and the ark of his testament was seen in his temple, and there were lightnings, and voices, and an earthquake, and great hail [Apocalypse 11:19]. She, the Blessed Virgin, was with child, in pain and travailing in birth. Books don't give birth. She delivered a Son a man, Jesus Christ. churches do not give birth to men. This man is the King of all nations who was (pas-tense) taken up to God and seated on His Throne. Books don't sit on thrones.
She is the prime example of the Bride of Christ... Christ is Israel though, the head of us. But as a depiction of what He gave His life for? She fits best as the Bride.

I see it as Mary as representative of the Bride of Christ. (I'm reformed, though I don't know what they teach on this point, it just seems obvious).
Since there is only One True Church she wouldn't be expected to give birth to other "One True Churches" as there is only ONE.

Let is the Ark of the Testament of God as He was within her until He reveals Himself.

Hmm....I wouldn't say she IS the Bride of Christ, but part of the Bride of Christ as a member of the Church. The Bride of Christ is THE CHURCH universal.

If you say she's a perfect example of what the Bride of Christ would follow, then yes, I would agree.

I agree, just some of the wording puts me off.

There certainly is symbolism in the book of Revelation, while still some do not want to take certain things in it as merely symbols. Yet symbols in it are representing some things that are real, there should be understanding of what is represented if they are not accepted as what will be real. There is help from old testament images for some of those things.

I am not finding the expression of one true church in the Bible.

A women represent a church. Ephesians 5:25 In Revelation, there is the faithful women, dressed in white which represents God's true church and the harlot who represents the false church. Her wine, which represents false doctrine, she is the mother, which means she has daughters who came out of the mother but still teaching false doctrine. God is calling us out of this church or spiritual Babylon and enter His true church which keep the commandments of God and have the faith and testimony of Jesus Christ Rev 14:12 Rev 12:17. The commandments of course are God's version, what He wrote and He spoke with His own finger Deut 4:13 His own Testimony Exo 31:18, that sadly most do not follow, because they are drunk with the false doctrine handed down by the mother church..
