Adam was called the "son of God" (Lk 3:38) because God directly created him.
Job 1:
Ro 8:
Exodus 4:
Job 1:
These were angelic beings directly created by God (Ez 28:13). In the ancient Near Eastern traditions, gods or divine beings were often referred to as "sons of God."6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.
Ro 8:
I.e., people who have been born of the Paraclete.14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
There were also broader usages of the term 'son of God'. In Psalm 82:6, judges or rulers were called "gods" and "sons of the Most High," though they were human.15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit [Paraclete] himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Exodus 4:
Strictly speaking, sons of God were beings directly created by God or born of God/Spirit.22 You shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the Lord: Israel is my firstborn son, and I say to you, Let my son go that he may serve me.'"
