I recently read a post by someone who asserted that Edomites are Germans now. I have a few questions I'd like to pose if I may:

  1. Are Edomites still around?
  2. Are they Germans now?
  3. If question 2 is correct is it evil or wrong to be German?
  4. Are/were the Edomites evil?
  5. Also, are either one or both cursed by G-d?

1. Edomites are the sons of Esau. I'd have to go back through all my notes, but yes they are still around if I recall correctly.

Gen 25:30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red [pottage]; for I [am] faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

2. NO. Edom is not Germany.
In Numbers chapter 20 and Judges 11, you find the story where Israel was trying to Pass into the Promised Land, and Edom turned her away " Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword."

Jdg 11:17 Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken [thereto]. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not [consent]: and Israel abode in Kadesh.

There are other passages in the Writings and Prophets pertaining to Edom

3. N/A
4. Surely not all were. I'd suggest doing a Bible study on Esau, Edom and Israel. :)
5. I don't believe this one is an either/or question actually. :sorry:
Germany has been and will be dealt with IF she does something to Israel again. Germany was know by a whole other name.
