It's not just the U.S. that is having this problem.

Canada shares a border with the US, and is exposed to some of the same media influence. Anti-vax ideas seem to be spreading throughout the English-speaking world, likely due to the influences of US based media.

Or maybe there is something else going on, beside US media?

As of March 2025, measles outbreaks are occurring globally. In the United States, there have been 483 confirmed measles cases reported by 20 jurisdictions, with 5 outbreaks reported in 2025.
The European Region has seen a significant increase in measles cases, with 127,350 cases reported in 2024, which is double the number reported in 2023 and the highest number since 1997.

In other parts of the world, several countries are experiencing large outbreaks. For example, Yemen has reported 7,584 cases, Pakistan has 6,661 cases, and India has 6,532 cases.
Thailand, Ethiopia, Romania, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam are also experiencing significant outbreaks with varying numbers of cases.

By the way, the United States has no closed borders, for diseases.

US citizens need to get vaccinated for measles, so that those coming into the US
from other countries, who are carrying the measles virus, will not be able to infect
Americans.

By NOT getting vaccinated, Americans open the door to the spread of measles
from countries that are not well vaccinated.
