Hello folks. What is your favorite Catholic Bible version? Mine is the NRSV-CE, which would be between "word-for-word" and "thought-for-thought" on the first chart. Sadly, these charts are missing a lot of Catholic Bibles.

I just read a "small pocket-size New Testament that is a reprint of the original Confraternity edition published in 1941". It was in Old English. It wasn't easy to read, but I made it through.

Nice. You know what is cool about all Bible versions? Every Bible has the word of Jesus in it. :) And that is all that matters.

A WW2 era Bible sounds interesting, and I hope that the Bible gave people in wartime some solace or peace, that God will be there for us, even in the darkest times.

It is great that when we have nobody, we can count on God to help us.

It varies, but right now my favorite is the Didache Bible.

I have one of those too. Portable enough to bring along anywhere.

The Jerusalem Bible
I got one back in 1971 and lost it. I am not Catholic, but I enjoyed that version.
Hopefully, someone else enjoys the Bible that you lost.

Mother Angelica’s fave was The New Jerusalem Bible.
I need to stop reading polls like this because now I want the New Jerusalem Study Bible but I can’t buy any more Bibles for a long time. I’ve already got more than enough.

I am a bibliophage. That’s the compulsive version of a bibliophile. The only thing somewhat restraining me is when my wife threatens me.

As to a good study Bible I think the RSVCE probably has the best right now. I had hopes for an ESV study Bible but the copyright holder has yet to allow Ascension Press to create one.

Whazzap? So far 50% say 'other' but only one specified the New Jerusalem Bible. If you have another unnamed preference could you name it?

And I note that so far the NAB got no votes at all. Way back when (1972) I thought that was the cat's pajamas. Today I rarely pull that one down off the shelf. And I never bothered to buy the rNAB. I went much more toward the word-for-word translations after seeing how the NIV was so susceptible to editorial influence in it's translation.

I go with the NRSV-CE, as it is the one most familiar with me. Not sure why everyone is going with "others" category. My favorite non-Catholic Bibles are the ESV, NIV and NKJV. I go for the meaning-for-meaning and word-for-word translations the most, and stay away from the paraphrased ones.
