I came across this verse in the bible,

John 1:17 = For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

I asked the Lord “Is there no truth under the law?” The Lord led me to the following bible verses that show me about the truth about the law.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 2:13 = For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Truth no.1 = As written in Romans 2:13. Anyone who can obey God’s law is righteous.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Galatians 5:3 = Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.

Truth no.2 = As written in Galatians 5:3. The Galatians wanted to obey the law of circumcision. However, Paul told them that if they want to be under the law, they have to obey the entire law. You cannot pick and choose whichever law that is convenient for you to observe but rather you have to obey the entire law.

The law includes not just the 10 commandments. The law includes the followings as well;

Moral laws - on murder, theft, honesty, adultery, etc.

Social laws - on property, inheritance, marriage and divorce,

Food laws - on what is clean and unclean, on cooking and storing food.

Purity laws - on menstruation, seminal emissions, skin disease and mildew, etc.

Feasts - the Day of Atonement, Passover, Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks etc.

Sacrifices and offerings - the sin offering, burnt offering, whole offering, heave offering, Passover sacrifice, meal offering, wave offering, peace offering, drink offering, thank offering, dough offering, incense offering, red heifer, scapegoat, first fruits, etc.

There are over 600++ laws to obey. Keeping the 10 commandments is already impossible. Jesus said Matthew 5:27-28 = You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

When a person has an evil thought or a selfish desire, it is already a sin in God’s sight even before the person put the thought into action. Hence, I conclude that no one can obey the law fully.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Galatians 5:4 = You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

Truth no.3 = As plainly as it is written, this verse says that anyone who tries to be righteous by obeying the law has to depend on their own effort. You will be bless when you fully obey the law. But you will be cursed if you break any part of the law. It is a self-performance system, you perform and God judges you. In simple words, Do good get good, Do bad get bad. Isn’t all other religions practicing this?

Furthermore, under law there is no grace. It simply means that God will not lift a finger to help you. You have to help yourself. Therefore those who want to come under the law must not mixed Grace and Law together. There are many verses throughout the bible that sets Law and Grace apart. The Galatians are guilty of mixing Grace with Law. Paul had to write a letter to rebuke them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

James 2:10 = For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Truth no.4 = To the world, man sees a liar who tells a white lie must deserving to go heaven than a man who commits murder. However, the bible says otherwise. Every sin is equal in God’s sight. God sees a liar who tells a white lie and a murderer as sinners deserving punishment in hell. Hence I can conclude on the following;

  • The world sees an unmerciful God putting good and bad people into hell. Everyone who does not believe in Jesus, but depended on their own merits as a ticket to heaven.
  • But I see a merciful God who loved me so much that he is willing to sacrifice his one and only beloved son (Jesus) to redeem me.
  • To the world, they see that undeserving bad people is able going up to heaven effortlessly just by believing in Jesus + his finished work. And they said that this is not possible and do not believe. They laughed at the message of the cross and account it as foolishness.
  • But I see a merciful God who has made a ultimate payment for all our sins and this payment gives anyone who believes the right to enter into heaven. So to me, I do not see any good or bad person in heaven or hell. I can only see the redeemed in heaven and condemned in hell.
  • To be redeemed or condemn comes from personal decision to receive or reject the free gift which God paid a heavy price for us.
  • It is not about doing but believing and trusting Jesus + his finished work.
Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:18 = For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 3:20 = Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Truth no.5 = The Law is from a perfect God, so the Law is perfect. But we are imperfect sinners. Because we are imperfect, we are unable to obey the law fully. When God’s law is broken, curses and punishment will come. In conclusion, those who seek righteousness through the law are cursed. As it is written in Galatians 3:10.

Galatians 3:10 = All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.

It says “ALL who rely on observing the law are under a curse”. It does not says the person who breaks the law is under a cursed but ALL who is under the law. So it is common sense to say that God already knows that no one can keep the law and under the law, everyone will be cursed. So why God gives the law? This is the reason.

Romans 7:7 = What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, "You shall not covet."

Galatians 2:16 = know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

God give the law to show us that we are sinners, we cannot save ourselves and in need of a saviour.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Final conclusion

John 1:17 = For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Since there are truths in the law. Why did God put truth on the side of Grace?

It is because only the truth under grace can set us free.

John 8:32 = Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free

Note: The law demands perfection but does not lift a finger to help. Grace on the other hand imparts perfection and does everything for man through Jesus Christ.

Feasts - the Day of Atonement, Passover, Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks etc.
That is where people get confused and David makes this plain and simple.

Psalm 51:16-17, David expresses that God values a contrite heart over ritual sacrifices:

“For you do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”

To make this more plain and clear God allowed the Temple to be destroyed to put an end to the animal sacrifices. Jesus died for all of mankind to be redeemed. I do not want to kill animals and I avoid eating them to some degree. We no longer need to sacrifice animals before God.

Today Hasidic communities focus on their own observance and lifestyle, and while they may have strong beliefs about their practices, this does not necessarily translate into judgment of others.

Paul addresses the importance of being fully convinced in one's own mind about matters of faith and practice. This can be found in Romans 14:5: "One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind."

Be careful of generalizing, or, again, false equivalence. "Declared righteous", (or "justified"), is not the same thing as, "is righteous".

Agreed/ well said.

When a person has an evil thought or a selfish desire, it is already a sin in God’s sight even before the person put the thought into action. Hence, I conclude that no one can obey the law fully.
Not to mention the two main laws according to Jesus: Love the Lord your God with all your [being], and Love your neighbor as yourself. None of us even CAN do that in this life.

Well said. And there are many places that speak a related way, such as: You will be measured according to the standard you use against someone else; and, Inasmuch as you have done it to the least of these my children, you will have done it unto me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

James 2:10 = For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

do not let your bloodline descent into this world, where satan rules.
do not hand them over to sin.

Judgement without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.
Mercy triumphs over judgement.

Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. So, what is the truth?

Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life", in John 14:6. And Jesus says He sets a person free so he or she is "free indeed" (in John 8:36). So, I see how Jesus can mean He Himself is the truth who sets us free.

What I get is that "truth" can mean not only correct information and beliefs, but also it can be true reality. Jesus is all the reality of who God is and how God is and functions.

And grace of God in us affects our character so we become truly how God is; so we discover the truth of how real love is, by how God in His grace cures our character to become like Him >

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)

It maybe can be like knowing the truth about an elephant. If you were to tell an Eskimo that elephants have large bodies and big tusks, an Eskimo could suppose you are talking about a walrus! Then, if we go into more detail, someone might get more clear. But what if some AI geek photoshopped a walrus?? The real truth is to actually be with an elephant . . . even to be one. The real truth *is* the elephant and even sharing with one.

So, why might God say "grace and truth", and not only "grace" or "truth"? After all, either one can mean Jesus.

Well, "grace" alone could mean only favor from a distance, without actually changing us. And "truth" can mean only knowledge which alone does not truly change a person's character. But together I think they can mean more clearly how Jesus affects us to have His own reality for pleasing our Father and loving as God's family.

I've been handed that complaint against my Calvinistic/Reformed-sounding claims, by the idea that it is impractical, and unmotivating to good works and obedience. I disagree violently. (Not that Calvinism/Reformed mean anything to me. I didn't get to what I believe by that route). But I can tell you, the effectual calling implies predestination to good works. "It is GOD who works in you both to will and to do according to his good purposes." It does not say, "We love him because we can see how much he loved us". It says, "We love him because he first loved us" and when you put that with, "if you love me you will obey my commandments", it can be seen that the Bible is full of what I call, "we do so, because it IS so". We are IN HIM, and "apart from me you can do nothing" is not hyperbole.

Grace has everything to do with changing us— it is a from-death-to-life difference, that does not depend on us —(after all, it is grace)— yet it changes us completely, and not just in motivation but in very centrality of personhood. We are not our own, and are not even 'we ourselves' alone anymore. We are individuals, but individual members of the Body of Christ.

And Christ is the TRUTH.

John 1:17 = For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
An arrow flies true when it hits its mark while sin is missing the mark and the mark is God’s character. God’s way is the way to know Him and Jesus by being in His likeness through being a doer of His character traits, which is the way to the Tree of Life (John 17:3) and God taught how to walk in His way through His law (1 Kings 2:1-3), which is why God’s law is truth (Psalms 119:142). Aspects of God’s character are the fruits of the Spirit, which is why the Spirit has the role of leading us to obey God’s law (Ezekiel 36:26-27) and the role of leading us in truth (John 16:13). The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact likeness of God’s character (Hebrews 1:3), which he embodied through his works by setting a sinless example for us to follow of how to walk in obedience to God’s law, so he is God’s way, the truth, and the life, and the way to see and know the Father (John 14:6-11).

In Psalms 119:29-30, he wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His law, and he chose the way of faith by setting it before him, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith and grace and truth came through Jesus because he spent his ministry teaching his followers how to correctly obey God's law by word and by example.

Romans 2:13 = For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Truth no.1 = As written in Romans 2:13. Anyone who can obey God’s law is righteous.
In Roman 10:5-8, Paul referenced Deuteronomy 30 as the word of faith that we proclaim in regard to proclaiming that God's law is not too difficult for us to obey and that obedience to it brings life and a blessing while disobedience brings death and a curse, so choose life! There are also many examples of people who did obey God's law, such as those in Joshua 22:1-3, Luke 1:5-6, Revelation 14:12, and Revelation 22:14.

While the only way for someone to become righteous is through faith, what it means to become righteous is to become a doer of righteous works in obedience to God's law, which is why the same faith by which we are declared righteous apart from works does not abolish our need to be a doer of righteous works in obedience to God's law (Romans 3:28-31). In other words, everyone who has faith will be declared righteous and everyone who has faith is a doer of God's law, which is how Paul can deny in Romans 4:1-5 that we can earn our righteousness as the result of our works while also affirming in Romans 2:13 that only the doers of the law will be declared righteous.

The law includes not just the 10 commandments. The law includes the followings as well;

-----------------------------------------------------------------
In Romans 3:27, Paul contrasted a law of works with a law of faith, in Galatians 3:10-12, he contrasted "works of the law" with the Book of Law, and in Romans 3:31 and Galatians 3:10-12, he said that our faith upholds God's law in contrast with saying that "works of the law" are not of faith, so that phrase does not refer to the Law of God, rather it refers to the process of a Gentile converting to being a Jew involving circumcision. In Isaiah 45:17, it says that all Israel shall be saved, which led some to hold the position that the way for a Gentile to become saved is by converting to being a Jew, which is the position that Paul was opposed to in Galatians.

All throughout the Bible, God wanted His people to repent and to return to obedience to His law, and even Christ began his ministry with that Gospel message (Matthew 4:15-23), so it would be absurd to interpret Galatians 5:4 as Paul warning us against doing that and saying that we will be cut off from Christ if we repent and believe the Gospel of Christ. Likewise, it would be absurd to interpret Psalms 119:29-30 as if he wanted God to be gracious to him by teaching him how to fall from grace.

Grace is a gift and gifts can't be earned, so grace is incompatible with works insofar as they are done to earn a wage (Romans 11:6), however, works can be done for reasons that are compatible with grace. For example, a gift can be the experience of doing something, such as giving someone the opportunity to experience driving a Ferrari for an hour, where the gift intrinsically requires them to do the work of driving it in order to have that experience, but where doing that work contributes nothing towards earning the opportunity to drive it.

In Exodus 33:13, Moses wanted God to be gracious to him by teaching him to walk in His way that he and Israel might know Him, and in Matthew 7:23, Jesus said that he would tell those who are workers of lawlessness to depart from him because he never knew them, so the goal of the law is to teach us how to know God and Jesus, which is His gift of eternal life (John 17:3), and which again is the gift of salvation by grace through faith.

In Genesis 6:8-9, Noah found grace in the eyes of God, he was a righteous man, and he walked with God, so God was gracious to him by teaching him to walk in His way and he was righteous because he obeyed through faith. In Romans 1:5, we have received grace in order to bring about the obedience of faith.

In Ephesians 2:8-10, we are new creations in Christ to do good works, so while Paul denied that we can earn our salvation as the result of our works lest anyone should boast, being made to be a doer of good works in obedience to God's law is nevertheless a central part of God's gift of salvation.

In Titus 2:11-13, our salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly, so doing those works has absolutely nothing to do with trying to contribute anything towards earning our salvation, but rather God graciously teaching us to be a doer of those works is part of His gift of salvation. In Titus 2:14, Jesus gave himself to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession who are zealous for doing good works, so the way to believe in what Jesus spent his ministry teaching by word and by example and in what he accomplished through the cross is by repenting and becoming zealous for being a doer of good works in obedience to God's law (Acts 21:20).

James 2:10 = For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Truth no.4 = To the world, man sees a liar who tells a white lie must deserving to go heaven than a man who commits murder. However, the bible says otherwise. Every sin is equal in God’s sight. God sees a liar who tells a white lie and a murderer as sinners deserving punishment in hell. Hence I can conclude on the following;

-----------------------------------------------------------------
In James 2:1-11, he was speaking to peopled who had already sinned by committing favoritism, so he wasn't telling them that they needed have perfect obedience because that would have already been too late, and he was not discouraging them from trying to keep God's law, but rather he was encouraging them to repent and to do a better job of obeying it more consistently.

God is trustworthy, therefore His law is also trustworthy (Psalms 19:7), so the way to trust in God is by obediently trusting in His law and it is contradictory to think that we can rely on ourselves by obediently relying on God's instructions. It is also contradictory to think that we should rely on God's word made flesh, but not on God's word. In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus said that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of Heaven in contrast with saying that he would tell those who are workers of lawlessness to depart from him because he never knew them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
In Romans 3:21-22, it doesn't say that the Law and the Prophets testify that the righteousness of God comes through perfect obedience, but rather the only way to become righteous that is testified about in the Law and the Prophets is through faith in Christ for all who believe. According to Romans 4:1-5, we can't earn our righteousness as a wage even if we manage to have perfect obedience, which is because God's law was never given as a way of earning our righteousness and that has always been a fundamental misunderstanding of why we are required to obey it.

In Deuteronomy 11:26-32, the difference between being under God's blessing or His curse is not whether or not we have perfect obedience, but whether we choose to serve God or to chase after other gods. While it is true that everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, everyone being under God's curse does not reflect the reality of what is recorded about those who served God, just those who chased after other gods.

In Galatians 3:10, it says that cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything in the Book of Law, so the only way to avoid being cursed is by continuing to do everything in it. It is absurd to think that God will curse us if we repent and believe the Gospel and the way to avoid being cursed is by refusing to obey God as if God wants our disobedience. According to Deuteronomy 27-28, the way to be blessed is by relying on the Book of the Law while the way to be cursed is by not relying on it, so Galatians 3:10 should not be interpreted as Paul quoting from that passage in order to support a point that is arguing the opposite of that passage, but rather the way to be cursed is by not relying on the Book of the Law, which means that everyone who relies on works of the law instead comes under that curse.

Jesus saves us from our sin sin (Matthew 1:21) and sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4), so Jesus graciously teaching us to be a doer of it is intrinsically the way that he is giving us his gift of saving us from not being a doer of it, so God's law does not just reveal our need for Savior, but also teaches us the way that he is saving us.

God's law is truth (Psalms 119:142) and in Join 8:31-36, it is the transgression of God's law that puts us into bondage while the truth sets us free. God's law came with instructions for what to do when His people sinned, so it never demanded perfect obedience. If we needed to have perfect obedience, then repentance wouldn't help, so the fact that repentance has value means that we don't need to have perfect obedience.

The law includes not just the 10 commandments. The law includes the followings as well;

Truth no.4 = To the world, man sees a liar who tells a white lie must deserving to go heaven than a man who commits murder. However, the bible says otherwise. Every sin is equal in God’s sight. You're floating all over the place, using multiple meanings of "law".

In John 8.32, it could be simply that "truth shall make you free". The Greek
use of the article, does not necessarily mean the same thing as "the truth"
in English.

To try to make your argument, you need to use the Greek NT definitions of
"nomos", and deal with the multiple meanings of this word.
