man made religion: (n) an evangelical christian term meant to marginalize some other religious view; often used to marginalize other evangelical christian views. ie. Bill: "I don't agree with you". Kevin: "That's because you are into man made religion". The evangelical social lingo probably stems from the desire to use the views of Jesus' opponents as an analogue to the modern evangelical's situation. In other words, when an evangelical uses this term, he's probably (even if not meaning to) trying to associate his opponents view with that of Jesus' opponents, so he tries to set his opposition in opposition to Jesus. The idea is that if you can set your opponent in opposition to Jesus (or the Holy Spirit), or make him just look like he's opposing Jesus or the Holy Spirit, then you win the debate, even if your argument is silly in all other respects.

Anything that's different from what God has set forth.

Some of the things we do on our own are not bad but there are things that God has set forth and said they would be forever. There are some who teach that what God said would be forever, is no longer in affect....that would be man made religion.

Basic concept of religion I see this way:
There are basically only two kinds of religion in the world: those based on human achievement and those based on divine accomplishment.
1. One says you can earn your way to heaven;
2. the other says you must trust in Jesus Christ alone.

The problem with "religion" is that the more religious a person is, the more difficult it is for that person to realize his or her need for the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Religion today is not transforming the people – it is being transformed by the people. Christianity is not a religion of men and women working their way to God through "good works." If we profess to have any religion at all, let us be careful that it is authentic. There has never been a time, since the Church of Jesus Christ was founded, when there has not been a vast amount of trivial and mere nominal religion among professing Christians. Today, many who are religious are members of the Church consists of "nothing but churchmanship" which that they belong to the Established Church. Religion is good at describing high standards of right behavior and relationships,but poor at giving real and merciful help to those who realize they have not lived up to those expectations. We have to understand that God saves people even though we are yet sinners (Rom.5:1-11). However, He does not simply leave them in their sins, but rather, forgives their sins and imputes to them the righteousness of Christ (Rom. 4). God wants us to declare ourselves alive in the Spirit, confession that there is a new life within us.

I love this quote: A religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers nothing, is worth nothing.Martin Luther

Everyone who disagrees with me...^_^

But seriously. You may as well read it like that because everyone claims to be following what the scriptures say. But we have thousands of religions that call themselve "the" genuine pure untainted faith.

If you disagree with me it is because of that darned man made religion of yours!
