Have you ever been asleep and suddenly woken only to be paralyzed, seen a dark evil shadow looming over your bed, felt somone sitting on your chest or body holding you down trying to choke you, or perhaps heard strange noises and felt an eerie feeling of evil descending upon you? Chances are you are more than likely a suffered a Sleep Paralysis.

There may very well be some advice in the Bible that could be applied to sleep paralysis. From my experience I've found that there are some nasty things out there in the spirit realm that would love to take advantage of someone who's defences are down because their spirit is "stuck" outside of their body.

However, I doubt that those in the "scientific" study of sleep paralysis would consider the possibility that we have such a thing as a "soul" or "spirit", or that there really may be creatures out there that fit the biblical description of "demons".

I'm all for scientificaly looking at what's around us; and if there is any wisdom from the Bible that can be applied to the situation, then great! If not, oh well. The Bible says that if anyone lacks wisdom, they only need to pray and ask.

I used to experience sleep paralysis very frequently when I was younger. It felt as if a force was pushing me down into the bed, preventing me from moving.

If I had been more religiously inclined, I probably would have thought I was possessed. It was pretty scary, until I started reading about it and understanding it. Once I did that, they just... went away. I can still remember them to this day though. They definitely made getting a good night's sleep quite... eh, exciting. lol.

this has happened to me recently (3 weeks ago) and it doesn't happen very much... i could not move and i felt a presence in the room... i feared opening my eyes and when i did i thought i saw a dark figure at the foot of my bed. i immediately remembered my loving savior Jesus Christ and called out his name, then was released from the sleep paralysis. Scientific study suggests that you can come out of sleep paralysis by wiggling your fingers or even by saying "mel gibson" over and over, but i prefer calling on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

science has agreed that this experience can be quite frightening as people feel a presence, or even hallucinate apparations... i don't know but that was the first time i saw a figure...

has this happened to anyone else? i know my friend experienced sleep paralysis on numerous occasions and swore to me he was fighting vampires, but according to science he woke up consciously as his body was in a sleep stage, unable to move.

I used to get that occasionally as well.

Problem is, it was occasionally accompanied by creaking bed springs, apparently indicating that something indeed was pushing down on me. Nobody there but me.
