What do they make you think of? That's probably your best clue.

When NBC delevoped color TV back in the Fifties, they adopted their peacock logo as a way of showing how many different colors you could see. (The drawback, of course, was that until you bought a color TV, all you saw was black, white and some shades of gray.) The phrase "strutting like a peacock" referrred to a sort-of boastful walk, maybe showing a little too much pride in things that weren't that important.

The other things in the dreams and pictures may also help peacock feathers make more sense to you.

I think of India--one of their native regions. Also, both use intense colors.

Keep thinking along the TV lines-- there are plenty of changes in technology that are worth keeping an eye on. (A CBS eye?)

We see peacocks in books and think of them as pretty... we buy their feathers in stores. Sometimes people call peacocks vain, but I see them more like guardians.

Peacocks appear to be relatively confident. They patrol their territory by walking around all day, then raising their feathers in alarm. Their call is loud and startling.

I don't know if they're protective birds at heart, but they certainly help others around them by being loud and "out there."

If you've ever seen them at the zoo, they act like they own the place. The other animals are trapped in cages, but peacocks can be trusted to stay where they are. They aren't gullible enough to eat out of people's hands (or do they?), but they aren't afraid to barge into walkways with large humans.

Hmm, I had vain glorious come to mind but the post by heron raised some good points. Watchbirds they are and they will definitely raise an alarm.

Where do the feathers fit in to your dream? Has something happened to your watch bird? Do you need to starty doing the watching?

pretty interesting

wow thanks all, some really interesting and valid points. I sometimes see the whole bird and sometimes just the feathers. One dream I saw individual peacock feathers in small plastic bags (just one to a bag) and a woman (me maybe?) was picking up one of the small bags to purchase or look at. And another time I just saw a bunch of peacock feathers in a vase on a table which is in a really luxurious store i like to go into a few times a year. Like really nice bath soap etc.

Go with what works for you. This thread is a good example of something important: Dream symbols are highly personal and tailored to the individual dreamer. If we've given you some ideas, great!; but ultimately the meaning is yours to determine.

thanks Bob yes it's definitely clarified things i was thinking but surprisingly the TV interpretation is very accurate as well so looking into that a bit more. Some people definitely have a gift of interpreting these things, Daniel style :)

When you were a kid, did you feel guilty like I did, for taking a feather that used to belong to the bird? Wondering if he was harmed, if he needed it, etc... then your parents explaining that it was picked up off the ground.

I ask, because the plastic bag part gave me a chill, thinking of it in terms of human rights or exploitation. People collecting and saving without necessarily needing something of value.

I don't think the rights idea matches completely with your other comments on the vase, but the aspect of need:want might. But when India keeps coming to mind as I read this, I can't help but think of what impact international business has on the individuals, and also the currency/cost of living balances. It's worth praying over, even if you feel the dream was strictly personal. And it might lead to something else.

God brought me some dreams about India/Pakistan before the international commercialism took off. I distanced myself a little because I didn't know what to pray for; but I regret praying so lightly over it (quite an epic). I would encourage you to ask God to pray through you for needs you are not aware of.

I would guess there is significance, since peacocks are such an unusual symbol.

The reason I often take the global direction (besides sensing something in a dream that seems global): We are all called to pray for others. We are all called to pray for leaders, and that ends up relating to leaders of other countries. We are all expected to heed God's voice and direction -- however He conveys His will/mind/heart to us.

If we submit ourselves to Him, working within His kingdom, then there will be tasks that can be done by someone that seem outside our ordinary scope. Taking on these tasks does not mean that we deserved it any more than the next guy. It doesn't even mean we were more spiritual or heard God better. It is usually just a matter of choosing.

God can do so much through people who are yielded to take on anything He gives them. No rationale battles, just prayer and action, and the task is over. The next person does the next relay spurt.

Imagine a person in Pakistan who is surrounded by Muslim family, Hindi neighbors, and knows none of the Christians nearby. They need prayer, but don't know who to ask.

God can trigger anyone in the world to pray for them, and put something on others' hearts. Your quick prayer of support adds to the "two gathered in my Name" concept (sort of). We can support people who have no prayer support.

We humans like to coin and can insights... own them, define and value them. But for some insights, there's no need if we act on the little that we know. Our attention spans are so poor anyway, lol, we might as well just pray about dreams and move on.
(-; Although it's fun to dig deeper.

This is ironic, in a way...i had a dream last night of being presented with a gift of white peacock feathers and some black bird feathers. I declined a marriage to a hindu prince, finding a girl that would be a better deserving princess than i would want to be, he was grateful in giving me the gift and the rest of the dream was more like a journey through life...it was a good life.

It would seem for all their origins in india they have a lot of strong christian values, symbolic of the resurrection and their version of Jesus, Lord Sananda.

"Christian artwork, like paintings and mosaics, have used white peacocks to represent Jesus Christ. This is because the peacock is considered a symbol for death, resurrection and eternal life, which are concepts that are directly affiliated with Christ. The bird is also affiliated with such Christ-like attributes as royalty, glory and incorruptibility. Its white color represents his holy spirit."

In a continuing search for more symbolism, it's been a long time since i've remembered a dream, it ultimately led me back here, finding this thread on dreaming about peacock feathers.

So i suppose one interpretation is that i received the gifts of Christ for giving up my opportunity to be a material princess and with all the spiritual associations peacocks in general have, i really don't need much more to live a fufilling life. It makes me feel better about choosing to remain a single female in a world that seems to place too much emphasis on marriages that rarely last longer than ten years and comfortable that my spirituality, while maybe a little heretical is indeed where it should be, at least enough to be given gifts of the spirit and a preview of my life.

Still not clear what bird the black feathers were, they weren't peacock, maybe a crow or raven but swans seem to have more eastern Indian associations...back to the gods on that one to.

white peacocks are the hindu dove?

Probably would be best to bring to the thread a detailed description of one of the dreams. Peacock's can point to pride in an accomplishment, prideful motives, emphasizes arrogance, showing off, or excessive preening/grooming/concern for appearance. There are even examples of these characteristics displayed in sayings that have been passed around in America for many years..."He was proud as a peacock" (excited healthy pride when an accomplishment has been achieved). ..or "she is such a peacock" (arrogant and prideful).

In order to determine which of those symbolic meanings apply, you have to look at all of the details of that dream. You have several other clues here. The lady in the store, is symbolically making choices, as that is what we do in stores. A single feather can be an ornament for the hair (now a days also on finger nails) or as an elegant writing instrument (feather pen). Plastic symbolically represents a cheap man made item that has long lasting affects. Do you personally store any thing personal or something in particular, in plastic bags?

Also they were on a table...a table symbolizes conversation/communion/gathering place/or place of agreements. Is there anything else that you forgot to describe? What was the lady wearing? What did the vase look like?

(2011) Doesn't this sound like portioning off parts of things -- selling off divisions? That would be disturbing. Maybe it is just the international commerce.

There has been so much collaboration and increased involvement in every area of life there -- research, manufacturing, film production, music, missions... it has definitely been under transformation.

I was reading this week about how the power grid is being revamped to a smart grid, as other countries are doing. They also have strong-opinioned neighbors bordering. Change can be so stressful, that even improvements can cause suffering.

If applying India as the symbol, these place the culture and people into a position of being used and manipulated -- put up for show.

When I see promotional media relating to India -- movies, television shows, products, wedding ideas, education -- I see luxury, kindness, positivity, and a love for color. In contrast, when I see pictures of how the majority of the people live, it is far from the elite bath soap aspect. The caste system separated people, many mindsets about rights are locked in place, and the infrastructure is in a long process of improvements. Networking with other nations is critical for survival of all. So there might be uncomfortable decisions that will be made, in order to raise the quality of living for the whole region.
