The bible says that dreams are instructions from God (see Job). We also know that everything is created through Jesus (see John). Therefore, the dreams Jesus had were instructions from God through Himself. But if something happens through you in a dream, do you really have a dream?

Once, when God was giving me a very shaking dream, I did something through myself at the end and I immediately woke up... I can't see how Jesus could have had dreams going through Himself that wouldn't wake Him up. This in turn makes me wonder what His sleep was like - it was like ours, but it was also the sleep of God.

Help me out! You are discerning in the Spirit, you know the scriptures, you have followed God's leading before, what do you think Jesus dreamed? Is it something we can ask to dream or does God already give us the dreams He wants for us? Maybe the beauty of sleep is that we don't have to ask...

Ask Him! Usually when we ask God to reveal something, little bits and pieces pop up out of nowhere... stories on tv, the newspaper, conversations...
God says that we can ask for wisdom, and He will give freely. I think that information comes in a close second -- that if we have a question for Him, He will not hold everything back...

Interesting thought!

You are right to say that I should ask ("ask and you shall receive") and it is encouraging to hear you say that straight away - I do not always think to ask when I should.

Actually, I did pursue this thought further and God revealed to me that Jesus did not have dreams when He was here on Earth: He had a vision ("I saw Satan fall like a flash of lightning from heaven"). This is in keeping with the scripture that "the young man shall have visions".

Pursuing this thought further, I realised that as an old man, forever crucified at the age of 37 (and the ripe old Earth age of 2013), Jesus now has a dream! This is in keeping with the scripture that "the old man shall dream dreams". The dream that Jesus has is one that we can all be part of and one that we can share with each other or have to ourselves as we like.

If you or anyone would like to share Jesus' dream with me, let's pray together that God will inspire us in our dreams as the one body of Christ!

We know Jesus slept. And due to the human mind's built-in processes, he had to also experience REM sleep for part of each sleep period.

I find the idea of Jesus's dream to be quite intriguing. And I don't neccessarily agree that Jesus didn't dream. God became flesh and experienced the entire range of human experience, and I believe that includes dreams.

However, that doesn't mean that he experienced them in the same way as most of us dream, most of the time.

Dreams have obvious importance throughout scripture, so it is curious that nothing is really revealed to us about the content of Jesus's dreams, or the way in which he dreamed.

Obviously, with the gospel being delivered as 2nd hand accounts, and although believed to be the word of God, the authors didn't have access to that part of Jesus's human experience unless he explicitly told them about it. And from the snapshots of his life that did get recorded, there is not much to go on.

So I am wondering if Jesus didn't use his REM periods of sleep to directly commune with the Father. Certainly, in prayer, he had this ability, but it was more meditative, while still being aware of his surroundings. But in his dreams, he no longer had to bother with the external distractions of sensory inupt. Instead, he had open to him the full virtual senses that the brain creates as part of the virtual environment of our dreamworld.

This, to me, creates an incredible potential.

I believe Jesus would have had the self-awareness to become fully aware in his dreams about his purpose and his true reality, and not bumble along as part of some convoluted plot as most of us do each night when we dream. I believe He was still in control. And along with that control came the ability to choose what happened in his dreamworld.

What a truly awesome way to get to know God even more deeply!

Dreams expired in the OT. Jesus is the Logos or " Word ". Jesus said it was "Finished".
The Logos is not given by dreams, It was given by the Father in Heaven. If you look toward dreams you move from the Logos. If you dream is false, you look toward the dark. You must test all dreams, images and visions.
It does not matter what Jesus dreamed, He did the Will of the Father in Heaven.
He took the Blade of the spear. Thus opening up the Temple for the second Exodus.
Mat: 7:14 Few will enter. Action not dreams.

The Dream Of Jesus

Beyond the edge of night, Jesus had a dream
In a foreign land a Castle stands, in a valley green
With unknown tongue He seeks to win what no man can comprehend
A slaves portion, a beggars Shroud, a Bride's love without end
Among jeweled kings and peasants Jesus made His way
The language of love fell from His lips on the cross that day
His gentle speech caressing the faithful there
Igniting their hearts with a living prayer
Yet the Castle, the valley, the sacred dream
Was His to process.... resolute and serene
The door of hope opened - a poor girl stumbled through
Jesus embraced her Resurrection morn-
A Man whose dream she knew!

You are a part of the Bride of Christ. YOU are His dream!

For the joy set before Him Jesus endured the cross despising the same!

After Jesus' crucifixion...

Ac 9:10,12
And the Lord said to him in a vision, Ananias! And he said, Behold, Lord, I am here .

And he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in and putting a hand on him, so that he may see again.

Ac 10:3
About the ninth hour of the day, he saw plainly in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, Cornelius!

Ac 10:17, 19
And as Peter was doubting within himself what the vision which he saw might be, even behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius stood on the porch asking about the house of Simon.

And as Peter pondered concerning the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men are seeking you.

Ac 11:5
I was being in the city of Joppa, praying. And in an ecstasy, I saw a vision: a certain vessel was coming down, like a huge sheet, being let down by four corners out of the heaven; and it came as far as me.

Ac 12:9
And going out, he followed him, and did not know that this happening through the angel was real, but he thought he saw a vision.

Ac 16:9, 10
And a vision appeared to Paul during the night: a certain man of Macedonia was standing, entreating him and saying, Passing over into Macedonia, help us!

And when he saw the vision, we immediately sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to announce the gospel to them.

Ac 18:9
And the Lord said to Paul through a vision in the night, Do not fear, but speak, and do not keep silence;

Ac 26:19
Upon this, king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision

Re 9:17
And so I saw in the vision the horses, and those sitting on them, having fire-colored breastplates, even dusky red and brimstone-like; and the heads of the horses as heads of lions; and out of their mouths come fire and smoke and brimstone.

Acts 2:16-21, 39, 43
But this is that which has been spoken by the prophet Joel, "And it shall be" in the last days, God says, "I will pour from My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy;" "and your young men shall see visions," "and your old men shall dream dreams;" "and also I will pour out My Spirit on My slaves and slave women in those days," and they shall prophesy "And I will give wonders in the heaven above," and miraculous signs "on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. (Joel 2:28-32)

For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.

And fear came to every soul, and many wonders and miraculous signs took place through the apostles.

Rev 1
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Re 19:10
For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

2Pe 1:21
for prophecy was not at any time borne by the will of man, but being borne along by the Holy Spirit, holy men of God spoke.

VISION

Strong's Number: 3705 o¸rama
o¸rama from (3708)
Transliterated Horama hor'-am-ah
Noun Neuter 5:371,706
Definition

1. that which is seen, spectacle
2. a sight divinely granted in an ecstasy or in a sleep, a vision

We can develop our beliefs based on sensibilities and experiences, knowing dangers to avoid and keeping to a core truth; but it is also important to recognize that certain things are in the Scriptures, that we might not always agree with.

The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ Ch 16 says...

5. And Jesus stood before the guests and said, I had a dream, and in my dream I stood before a sea, upon a sandy beach.

6. The waves upon the sea were high; a storm was raging on the deep.

7. Some one gave me a wand. I took the wand and touched the sand, and every grain of sand became a living thing; the beach was all a mass of beauty and of song.

8. I touched the waters at my feet, and they were changed to trees, and flowers, and singing birds, and every thing was praising God.

9. And some one spoke, I did not see the one who spoke, I heard the voice, which said, There is no death.

10. Grandmother Anna loved the child; she laid her hand on Jesus' head and said, I saw you stand beside the sea; I saw you touch the sand and waves; I saw them turn to living things and then I knew the meaning of the dream.

11. The sea of life rolls high; the storms are great. The multitude of men are idle, listless, waiting, like dead sand upon the beach.

12. Your wand is truth. With this you touch the multitudes, and every man becomes a messenger of holy light and life.

13. You touch the waves upon the sea of life; their turmoils cease; the very winds become a song of praise.

14. There is no death, because the wand of truth can change the dryest bones to living things, and bring the loveliest flowers from stagnant ponds, and turn the most discordant notes to harmony and praise.

15. Joachim said, My son, today you pass the seventh milestone of your way of life, for you are seven years of age, and we will give to you, as a remembrance of this day, whatever you desire; choose that which will afford you most delight.

Interstingly, this was first published about eight years after Freud's Interpretation of Dreams.
