Cats. I have two. For the most part they can look after themselves, they love to snuggle, they don't yap, they keep themselves clean, and they fit on my lap perfectly.

In the past I have had both cats and dogs for pets. I do have a personal preference for cats because of their independent nature.

I like dogs the best. I haven't owned a cat, just fostered some kittens and worked with cats at vet clinics for a few years. I also pet-sat for a neighbor's cat when I was in middle school. They warned me that it often pooped on their bed out of spite.

I've had dogs since I was a baby and the reason I like them so much is because you can really bond with them and work together as a team. Dogs guide the blind and assist people who are disabled; they can be trained to sniff out bombs and drugs or trained to work alongside soldiers. Then there are search and rescue dogs, police dogs, etc..............

I didn't vote because I like too many animals to pick just one. The answer also varies base on what people want so it depends on some things. What are you willing to do for an animal? What are you not willing to do? What do expect to be able to do with the animal? What kind of bond are you looking for? What do you want to look at? What don't you want to look at?

I had a lot of animals growing up and I've learned what I can't stand doing and what I don't mind. For me a good pet is a dog, cat, rabbit, or rat.

I currently have a rabbit and dog, but neither of them live with me. My rabbit lives with my boyfriend and is 4 years old. And though everyone calls the dog mine, he's really the family pet. I just brunt most of the medical bills for him. He lives with my parents and is 10 years old. For a Great Dane that's pushing the upper end of the age bracket. He's seeing a vet Tuesday for some problems.

That is pretty old for a Great Dane. It means you've been taking really good care of him!

I think Cats are the best pets. My Sally and I are best friends! She sleeps in my armsat night and if I turn over during the night she will go around and get in between me and my Husband. She wants me to pet her. She is spoiled rotten Too!

I think that depends on the person owning the pet. Most animals make great pets,all you have to is make sure you do research and have the proper equipment for your pet. For me since I life in a place where I am not allowed cats or dogs I have 3 birds. If I could have animals and have the space I would love to have dogs, cats ,horses, and a few chickens.
