Apparently he was carrying a "handwritten manifesto"?

Must have been planted on him. People dont hand write.
All of my manifestos are handwritten. At last count I've got 38 manifestos. Some of them contradict each other, because I'm prone to mood swings.

No problem with contradictory manifesti, so long as they are sufficiently strident.

I like the term manifesti vs manifestios for example. We should all have one, but not too long. Maybe 3 words should be enough. Here is mine: "I've had it"!

"Manifesti"? You almost had me. Thank goodness for the internet.

Some interesting new info coming out of his arraignment and bail hearing.

1) He's claiming he has no history of drug or mental health issues (the latter one is obviously questionable)
2) His bag was specifically designed to block cell service transmission
3) He was requesting bail but was denied due to the fact that when apprehended, was found with his passport, as well as thousands of dollars' worth of both US and foreign currency. Which usually points to someone having their sights on skipping town.

Perhaps that would explain the reasons why he never ditched some of the evidence, maybe the plan was to ditch it somewhere a little more random right before leaving the country.

Some other interesting things:

His family is rich...and not just a little bit. Another poster mentioned they were loaded. That doesn't do the term justice.

The family owns a radio station, a health services company (that includes a chain of assisted living facilities and urgent care centers, a real estate development company, and 2 country clubs (among other business ventures). NBC worded it as "The Mangione family’s fingerprints can be found throughout the Baltimore area."

It also would appear that something is going on with him health wise, he appears to have lost quite a bit of weight in comparison to some of the other earlier photos posted of him.

Perhaps it's just the camera angle...

But he appears to be gaunter and somewhat emaciated here

The current photos look like someone who hasn't eaten a solid meal in a while.

....he had everything going for him...except an injured back (mis-aligned spine). It seems he went off the radar six months ago....

Mr. Mangione was in regular contact with friends and family until about six months ago when he suddenly and inexplicably stopped communicating with them. He had been suffering from a painful back injury, friends said, and then went dark, prompting anxious inquiries from relatives to his friends: Had anyone heard from him?

In July, one man tagged a social media account that appeared to belong to Mr. Mangione and said that he hadn’t heard from him in months. “You made commitments to me for my wedding and if you can’t honor them I need to know so I can plan accordingly,” the man wrote in a now-deleted post.

Those six months will most likely become a focus for investigators as they try to gather more evidence about Mr. Mangione’s connection to the killing, and what he was doing in the time that no one could find him.

I've been asking around about this guy and, while I haven't heard yet from the two who would've worked most closely with him, the recollections I've gotten from others who were a bit more adjacent to him have all been along the lines of "meh" - that he was mostly unremarkable and forgettable. And I'm wondering how a guy who looks like that while working at a game company and being named Luigi can go that under the radar. Because if there had been a wealthy smokeshow of the female persuasion working in my office, I would've noticed.

Well, here's that odd twist that I said could be likely that I was referring to back on page 2 or 3...

Luigi Mangione's deleted social media posts show support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., skepticism of doctors

"
darkly amusing to watch panicked dems suddenly searching under the couch cushions for a candidate when kennedy is literally standing right there
"

"
"My experience with the medical profession — and yours is probably similar — is that doctors are basically worthless
"

Mangione also castigated "both parties" in a reply to writer Nate Silver.

His social media presence revealed strong opinions about masculinity and physical fitness. He shared posts about men facing challenges and endorsed weightlifting as an alternative to antidepressants, as well as taking an anti-pornography stance, attributing pornography to the 'concerning decline in birth rates'.

Per NBC:
A gym and wellness enthusiast, Mangione retweeted posts about masculinity and health, as well as the growing role and potential of artificial intelligence in reshaping society. Content he shared linked declining mental health and procreation to the increased reliance on technology. He also shared content that made fun of and criticized inclusive and “woke” political views.

So, to the Taylor Lorenz's and all of the far-left social media folks who were indirectly praising this guy and propping him us a vessel of "righteous anger" toward the medical insurance industry, and portraying him as some sort of "good looking quasi-Robin Hood".

All I can say is...no takebacks.

I mentioned before that based on some of his other posts they were digging up, that it was quite possible that it could turn out that:
His dissatisfaction with the US medical system may be less about "it's terrible what they do to poor people.", and could be more about "pharmaceuticals are evil mind control turning frogs gay, and we need to embrace these pseudoscience things instead"

If they end up digging up a post from him glorifying Ivermectin, that'll be the icing on the cake.

I dont understand your need to do such delicate scorekeeping for which "side" or fraction of a "side" got him right or wrong.

because I knew some people in the media would try to walk it back and pull this kind of crap

No matter his affiliations, the Rachel Maddow's and Taylor Lorenz's of the world were going to frame this event in a way that's favorable to their viewpoints.

When early indicators would seem to suggest that this could've been largely motivated by a person's frustration with the capitalistic nature of the privatized health insurance system.

Their focus was on "the righteous anger people are feeling towards this system, and why they need to change it to the system we've been recommending"

At the first whiff of "Hey, it turns out this was a rich guy who was an RFK fan, thinks doctors and mainstream meds are worthless, and has a mentality towards a lot of the issues that more closely resembles that of an Elon Musk"

It took them all of two seconds to flip and now it's somehow going to be a "Trump-related" thing.

The article doesnt mention anything about Maddow "waking back" her opinion.

And who even cares if people change opinions in light of new facts? Its what we're supposed to do if we're being honest.

Changing opinions in light of new facts if fine, deflecting by shifting away to completely different narratives in light of inconvenient info coming out is something different.

For me, it is curious that Mr. Mangione's life of privilege derived from his family that owns nursing homes and convenience clinics has undoubtedly come, in part, from the health insurance industry he is alleged to have acted against.

Theres not the faintest hint in your article of Maddow modifying her opinion on anything.

To be clear, I'm not saying they changed their opinion about the healthcare industry, I'm saying that they're going to choose to focus on different aspects now, as to avoid having to acknowledge the original sentiments that were seeming to somewhat glorify this guy as some sort of left-leaning antihero.

In a nutshell, no matter the circumstances involving the shooter, they were going to look for a way to make right-wing ideologies the "root problem".

"This happened because the way the health insurance companies have been treating people; it sparks the kind of anger in people that make them lash out like this after getting wronged"

...could morph into

"This shows what happens when right-wing ideologies and misinformation are allowed to go unchecked on social media, and how it radicalizes young white men"

Its just all too vague.

II dont buy assertions of personal intellectual dishonesty just because the accused is affiliated with "the left", or "the right" for that matter.

You need to show a persons disingenuousness specifically. Short of that, its just a big 'vibe' youre trying to project.

I think that would be somewhat naive to not consider that aspect in the world of modern journalism (which is driven by trying to preach to the amen corner and get views and clicks)

When the Nashville school shooter situation happened,

It was no small coincidence that one subset of journalists wanted to play up the "ease with which the firearms are acquired in TN" part, and downplay the "trans activist with an anti-white, anti-Christian manifesto" part... and another subset of journalist wanted to do the exact inverse.

And someone could take an off-the-cuff guess at which ones were which (without ever seeing the coverage), and they'd be right.

Your claim was "some people in the media would try to walk it back and pull this kind of crap." And then you post a thing Maddow did.

I'm not going to buy that she pulled any crap at all based on an article that demonstrated no intellectual dishonesty on her part.

Is there bias in the various media? Of course. But if you want to tarnish specific people you need to show more than they are just affiliated with a "side" or retweeted a thing from another person associated with a "side"

It seems to me that you're trying to castigate the media for something that you think they would have done, but that they did not, in fact, actually do.
