It brings up something I have been thinking about. A paradox in faith..
We are called to be detached from the world - not "of it".
And yet we are also called to be involved in the world, concerned for justice and truth.
Detached and yet concerned.. Unsoiled and yet committed..

"Laymen should also know that it is generally the function of their well-formed Christian conscience to see that the divine law is inscribed in the life of the earthly city; from priests they may look for spiritual light and nourishment. . . . Since they have an active role to play in the whole life of the Church, laymen are not only bound to penetrate the world with a Christian spirit, but are also called to be witnesses to Christ in all things in the midst of human society." https://www.usccb.org/issues-and-ac...ming-consciences-for-faithful-citizenship.pdf

bound to penetrate the world with a Christian spirit

Christian Spirit? The spirit of tuning tables over? The spirit of "Woe to you?" "The spirit of go and sin no more?"

Also the paradox of not judging others and yet speaking truth to power. I do not feel "sick" at all. I don't think you need to be warning me to "let it go" what ever you mean by "it". Some things are beyond our control and influence. We can just breath and let such things be as they are. But we can still have discussion and ongoing discernment.

Faith leaders having access to the Oval Office sound like a wonderful thing. Doesn't it? Do you know much about Paula White-Cain?
Complaining about Trump constantly and letting him live rent free in your head is not healthy. He’s not even in office yet. It’s one thing to be informed. Quite another to be obsessive about something. Life goes on.

Well he is just about the most powerful man in the world. Concern is not the same as obsession. Perhaps you are comfortable with him.

They’re not a day that goes by that you are not discussing your fears about Trump. There are better things to do besides stoke fear.

And better things to do than track me.

Unless it is open to Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and other religious leaders it's not really a "faith" office.

I tend to think in some views that all of the above except Christianity is probably accepted. If Christianity is included, a crisis of separation of church and state issues might emerge.

Are you so sure? Are you a mind reader?

Besides, our works and actions don’t save us.

Grace does
It's pretty easy to see through his actions what he puts first. Our actions don't save us but they do reveal who we are.

Fears shared by several of us in different countries. I think it's his ability to handle world situations which concern many of us.

Well, that's one thing. Also the way his rhetoric stirs up fear, hatred, othering, and so on.

Yes, I think that's inevitable if you have a mixed faith community in a democracy. We may know that Jesus is the Saviour of the world, but political leaders need to represent all their country's citizens. Our job, as Christians, is to reach others with the gospel.

Former President Donald Trump has promised to provide faith leaders with direct access to him in the Oval Office if he wins the election.

Speaking last Monday at the National Faith Summit in Powder Springs, Georgia, Trump vowed to reinstate the Faith Office he originally established during his first term, emphasizing the critical role of religion in the nation.

In response to a question from moderator Paula White-Cain about what a faith office might look like in a second Trump administration, the former president indicated his plans involve a direct line to the Oval Office.

Continued below.

I prefer a president who allows the possibility of truth to confront power to one who ignores the church. Also, Trump might be able to protect Christians around the world to some extent from persecution and oppression. But would Trump accept a rebuke from church leaders?

He might come to regret that. It's hard to imagine Trump responding meekly to a Prophet Nathan.

There won't be a Prophet Nathan allowed. It'll be Jannes and Jambres.

That is probably who is needed the most as they are minorities.
And with so much islamophobia and antisemitism to deal with their input could be very helpful.

It is not illegitimate for Christians to seek to influence power. Things have not gotten better as Christians retreated from said influence. Nor should we regard or treat all religions as equal.
No other religion does either. If all religions are equal then it simply does not matter overall. Treat people with their God given dignity but it’s impossible to please all the people all the time.

It is 100% unbiblical for Christian to seek power.

Matthew 5:5

“God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.”

Zephaniah 2:3
"Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, who do his just commands;2 seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the Lord."

Colossians 3:12
"Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,"

1 Peter 3:8
"Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind."
