President-elect Trump announced Thursday evening that he's nominating a former attorney general of Florida as the next attorney general of the United States.

Trump's latest Cabinet pick replaces Matt Gaetz, the former Florida representative and nominee for attorney general, who on Thursday withdrew as Trump's pick for the top prosecutor after the "distraction" his nomination had caused due to a swirl of allegations about paying underage women for sex.

"Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families," Trump wrote in his announcement. "Then, as Florida’s first female Attorney General, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country. She did such an incredible job, that I asked her to serve on our Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during my first Term — We saved many lives!"

"For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans - Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again," he continued. "I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!"

Reasonably competent, bribe-able and indirectly responsible for the Trump Foundation being shut down.

I guess I'll take it, considering the horrifying alternatives that keep me up at night.

Bondi? Let me look her up here...

Whoa! Former AG for Rick Scott in Florida, acted as a Trump Lawyer, buys into all of Trump's conspiracy theories. Exactly the kind of lawyer I'd hate to have running around in my state. She looks like a great fit for the Trump administration! She can be Trump's ruthless fist of retribution. At least for a while. She knows a lot about law, so that might get in her way when doing Trump's bidding, but at least on the surface it looks like she's more than willing to subvert the law to Trump's ends.

Is there anything that should give her a problem with confirmation? Doesn't look like it to me so far.

What I have heard so far is that he paid her $25K to make the Trump University lawsuit go away. Fortunately NY AGs with more integrity got justice for those students who were defrauded.
There were two other things but that stuck with me because I love seeing innocent victims get justice in an easily corrupted justice system.

Without proof of that, it is slander against a public figure. Got proof?

Isnt it a bad idea for a president's personal atty to be AG of the USA?

There's supposed to be a sense of AG independence. I guess thats completely out the window going forward.
Well, there was JFK and Bobby...

She alleges they could drop their investigation because NY had already won a case and got complainants a "portion" of all they had lost.
And so she made a decision not to charge herself...since it was up to her.
She didn't return the money.
from the link:

At the time of Bondi’s request for a donation from Trump, Ray said she was unaware of the one new complaint on file with her office.
“I can tell you from this office she had no idea that we had received a complaint about Donald Trump. That wasn’t even on her radar,” Ray said.
I apologize - you did not slander - just repeated some really bad reporting and accepted it as truth

Fantastic choice! So much better than Gaetz.

Post #3 offers evidence that the Trump Foundation illegally donated $25,000 to her campaign. And the lawsuit went away.

Oh, was there a charge? A Trail and conviction. Can’t seem to find anything starting 20 years ago.

No one has shown me how an AG accepting an illegal donation and then giving herself "immunity" isn't very highly irregular.
Of course she was in a position to commit crimes with equanimity

A donation received 13 years before Trump ever ran for office.

Is that really the best the left has?

Seems to be nothing more than a mysoginistc attack against a woman being placed in a position of power.

We have had the law subverted for four years , it’s time clean up the mess. This type of liberal propaganda didn’t work in the past election and probably won’t work in the next one,
