Thanks people, yes Jesus said there'd be no marriage in heaven and that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God which indicates we become "spirit beings" there-
"In the twinkling of an eye the dead shall be raised imperishable and we shall be changed" (1 Cor 15:52), but he also said to his disciples at the last supper that he won't be drinking wine with them again until they meet in heaven which suggests we will meet our loved ones there, not parted by death.
My interpretation rightly or wrongly is that heaven is therefore a "soul pool" where our souls all merge into God and Jesus and our loved ones, just as raindrops falling into a lake become one lake, no more individuality, no more loneliness..
