The suspect in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, law enforcement sources confirmed to Fox News.
Routh was allegedly armed with an assault rifle outside Trump International Golf Club while Trump was playing the fifth hole on Sunday afternoon.
He was able to push the muzzle of his gun through the chainlink fence outside the golf club, authorities said. He was 300 to 500 yards away from Trump. Secret Service spotted Routh and opened fire. Routh was able to get way, but was later stopped by authorities and arrested. He was found with two backpacks and a GoPro camera. The rifle was recovered from the bushes outside the golf course.

This is the second attempt made on Trump's life in two months.

Congratulations to the FBI and Secret Service for promptly apprehending the gunman.
I have tremendous admiration for these heroes, given the difficult task of defending a candidate who provokes anger and loathing due to his uncontrollable behavior.

Through doubling down on vicious lies, he angered many Haitian immigrants and a whole town that's been endangered and besieged.

That's 60,000 people with motives right there-lives disrupted by his lies.

The candidate needs to respect the people protecting him, not make their jobs more difficult.

May he choose to recover from this incident in a period of self reflection, acknowledging his responsibility to rein in his behavior.

I'm glad they apprehended the guy walking around with a gun near the former president this time.

Someone actually getting to Trump would be a disaster for this country.

ARE you REALLY attempting to post the blame on Trump for this shooting? Is that really what I am reading here?

I am merely pointing out that any candidate as confrontational as the Republican candidate is more likely to attract the unhinged and potentially violent. That's just common sense.
If he doesn't want to tone it down for his own safety, he should consider his security detail and their families, or innocent bystanders who could get caught in the crossfire.

I agree. As a martyr and MAGA symbol, hard as it is to believe, he could be even more dangerous.

This is an unbelievable post here.

Essentially the right wing thinks that the former president can do and say whatever he wants, no questions asked, but the left is always responsible for any crazy that might want to kill him.

This is another rather unbelievable post, in my opinion. Whatever happened to the belief that Americans ought to have freedom of speech and freedom of choice within the law when it comes to our political differences?

I'm just pointing out what I am seeing.

I was just replying to someone criticizing the left for criticizing Trump as if they are apparently responsible for every crazy person who might want to attack him.

(Sorry that might not have been you.)

This is an unbelievable post here.
After the first attempt the Secret Service asked him not to hold outdoor rallies. He refused.
I am sure they demanded the same of Harris.
I don't admire people who put others at unnecessary risk, including his rally attendees.

Of course he has his freedom of speech, however, that doesn’t protect him from someone angry enough to want to kill him over it. Having said that, I will not go so far as that was this person’s motive. We will have to wait for that to come out.

I am not laying the blame on any side of the political aisle for the actions of wannabe assassins.
