It is typical for some to add ..”from the faith” …but that is based on some erroneous judgment of interpretation.

The authorized version of (1611) dropped “the” Greek article (hē) and inserted “A” (ho)… and in doing so they departed from the previous seven English translations and the Latin Vulgate which translated apostasia as departing or departure…

Then “from the faith” was somehow wrongly attached to apostasia ..of which my guess is…. it came from the verb form aphistēmi used in 1Tim 4:1.

But when you stand on the highest point and overlook the area (context) of 2Th 2:3 ..there is nothing in the surrounding area to substantiate ”a falling away >from the faith”.<

As you stated…. the only other noun of apostasia used in the NT is in Act 21:21
Which is speaking about departing or forsaking of Moses’, circumcision, and customs. But the word apostasia in 21:21 is qualified in this verse with (of Moses’, circumcision, and customs) … Just as the verb form (aphistēmi) is qualified in 1Ti 4:1 with (from the faith)

If we replace the original article from the Greek…. reading correctly as (hē apostasia) The “standing away” or….. “ the departure” which has significant backing from the other 14 verb forms (11x which are translated depart, departed or departing) and the three cognitive neuter nouns apostasion… regarding divorce [departing]

Whenever the Greek uses the article, it points out individual identity…. and marks a specific object of thought. The Greek article points here to a previous context ….namely to the coming of the Lord Jesus into the air and the gathering together of the saints unto Him.

I don't disagree with your basic premise or structure .... But I have a question........... and a statement.

Question: A falling away from what?

Statement: Slight but meaningful correction..... Verse 2 has “the day of Christ” …should read “the day of the Lord”. KJV, YLT, & WEB ….I think are the only more popular versions that have Christ, all other versions have Lord as is noted in all critical Greek texts.

2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ the Lord is at hand.

2 Th 2:3's ending words are about Rev 6:1-2, the opening of the first seal to start the Trib. Ahead of those words in 2 Th 2:3, Paul was saying about the Day of the Lord: that day shall not come, except there come a departing first (2 Th 2:3 Geneva Bible) ...

2 Th 2:1 is a raising of the topic of the rapture. That sets the whole context for verse 3. Therefore, "departing first" can only mean, in the context of rapture, that the rapture occurs first (before the Trib).

RESTRAINING

The prophecy about the RESTRAINING to be take away, it didn't fulfill yet, of course, but will LITERALLY fulfill henceforward or in days to come, would say in this current decade, and it only after the end of the FIRST half of the last week when the next and last Pope be elected, i.e. week 70th Daniel 9:v.27, actually it will occur only when the Abomination of Desolation be established in the 2nd half of the last week, for 1290 days.

I would say the current Dispensation of Grace gets to the END with this terrible and SATANIC event, I say through the manifestation of the Jewish false messiah (Revelation 13:11 combined with 2 Thess.2:v.9), and the establishment of the abomination of desolation in the holy place.

Who is he who now does not let the MAN of sin, SON of perdition, a former Cherub, be manifested among his own people, and also before all the whole Gentilic world? The complete Jewish Bible-CJB says the MAN of sin is at work secretly, in other words-KJV-,"the mystery of iniquity doth already work", "but it will be secretly only until he who is restraining him is out of the way"- CJB.
Well, there are three that bear witness in Earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in One-1 John 5:v.8. v.8 - I considered the (10)horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn,...and, behold, in this (little) horn were eyes like the eyes of MAN, and a mouth speaking great things.
Daniel 8:v.11 says: - 11 Yea, he (the little horn, by his mouth) magnified himself (magnified as God) even to the prince of the host (it is Michael-Revelation 12:v.7), and by him (by the Jewish false messiah-the little horn) the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.
The false lamb, the false messiah(John 5:v.43), he is also a Jew, and he is from one of the 10 tribes of Israel, it may be from the tribe of Dan as prophesied Jacob- Genesis 49:16-17. The false messiah (John 5:43) will rise up from the earth-from Israel-exactly from one of the (10) ten tribes of Israel - HE IS THE LITTLE HORN.
The false lamb, the false messiah-John 5:43- has two horns like a lamb. Two horns represent the two kingdoms of Israel, but he will rise up from one of the 10 tribes of Israel, as prophesied Jacob. Gen.49:16-17.

Actually, the SACRIFICE of JESUS SHALL BE TAKEN AWAY when the Beast like a lamb, the MAN of sin and son of perdition(the little horn) sits in the temple of God-JERUSALEM-,shewing himself that he is God-2 Thes.2:v.4-, then the abomination of desolation will stand in the holy place, THE DAILY SACRIFICE OF JESUS WILL BE TAKE AWAY BY THE JEWISH FALSE MESSIAH in the second half of the last week by 1260 plus 30 days, I would say the current Dispensation of Grace gets to the END with this terrible and SATANIC event through the Jewish false messiah (2Thess.2:v.9), and the establishment of the abomination of desolation in the holy place or sanctuary.

Revelation 11:v.1-2 reveals how will be the FIRST half of the last week (1260 days), ended the FIRST half, the false messiah, an esoteric, and kabbalistic, and spiritist messiah, will be enthroned in JERUSALEM-spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, for 1290 days, and the sanctuary will be cast down.

Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. Dan.12:v.12 - Yeah, day 1335, the Ineffable, Wonderful, Indescribable, Unspeakable day, the day 1.335. Hallelujaaah!!!
