What is the consequence that will not be pardoned (or "let off") for blaspheming the Holy Spirit? Could it be death, whether committed in "this age or in the age to come" (Mt.12:32), e.g. the millennium? Perhaps an imminent or immediate death, and or divinely sanctioned capital punishment. A death that ends the opportunity for salvation by grace in one's mortal life & ships them off to corrective punishment, such as in a place the rich man (Luke 16:19-31) went to? For as long as it takes.

The only unpardonable sin is if you reject Holy Spirit to save you , because you can't get life without it . If you willfully don't want to be saved then you won't it's simple as that , Jesus told it to phariacies which did not accept him as Messiah when he has done countless miracles in front of them . It all began when Jesus has just performed a miracle. A demon-possessed man was brought to Jesus, and the Lord cast the demon out, healing the man of blindness and muteness. The eyewitnesses to this exorcism began to wonder if Jesus was indeed the Messiah they had been waiting for. The Hebrew in the dessert did sins again and again so many times and murmuring God but God (the Same Holy Spirit refer to by Jesus) gave them many chance to repent.

In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. Exo 16:3 The sons of Israel said to them, "Would that we had died by the LORD'S hand in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger."

Exo 14:11 Then they said to Moses, "Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?

Paul speaks of the age to come (Eph.1:21). In the same context he refers to multiple ages to come (Eph.2:7), as do many other Scriptures (e.g. Lk.1:33; Rev.11:15). So a sin that is not pardoned in this age or the coming age does not require it mean it can never be pardoned, or that it cannot be pardoned in an age following the coming age.

A criminal is sentenced to 20 years in prison. If he is pardoned after 10 years for good behavior or by the governor he gets out of prison early. Otherwise he is not pardoned & serves his full sentence. Then he is released. The fact he was not pardoned did not mean he stayed in prison & was punished forever. Even though he was not pardoned, he still became free when his sentence was served. Or after half his sentence was served when the governor pardoned him or he repented & changed his ways.

For some people who lied to the Holy Spirit they were not pardoned & their sentence was immediate physical death (e.g. Acts 5).

In this case a person is not pardoned. But it is limited until he die:

Isa 22:14 But the LORD of hosts revealed Himself to me, "Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven [purged/atoned] you Until you die," says the Lord GOD of hosts.

Was the immoral person of 1 Cor.5:4-5 pardoned while in his sin? No, he was given over to Satan for destruction that he might be saved in the day of the Lord.

Was King Nebuchadnezzar pardoned during the 7 years God made him insanely eat grass like an animal. No. Though he wasn't pardoned, he wasn't punished forever, either.

Here we see a sin that won't be pardoned. It won't be pardoned "until" they pardon others:

Mt.6:15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Similarly, the not being pardoned here is "until" a certain point:

Mt.18:34 In his anger, his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed. 35 That is how My Heavenly Father will treat each of you, unless you forgive your brother from your heart.

If such a horrific thing as eternal punishment were the idea in Mt.12:31-32 & Mk.3:28-29, would Christ have used the ambiguous words aion & aionios? No. He would have used words such as eternal (aidios, Rom.1:20; Jude 6), endless (aperantos, 1 Tim.1:4), no end (Lk.1:33), unlimited (apeiron, by Philo). Since He never used such words, He did not teach endless annihilation or torments.

The Spirit blasphemers (Heb.10:28-29) are even worse than a "serial sinner" such as Saul of Tarsus who was persecuting Spirit filled Christians, even unto death.

Even then, all of God's punishments are corrective, not merely pointlessly or sadistically meting out justice for justice's sake, but for the good of all, including the offender.

Heb.10:28 A man that hath set at nought Moses' law dieth without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses: 29 of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Stoning to death is not a very sore or longlasting punishment. People suffered far worse deaths via the torture methods of the eternal hell believing Medieval Inquisitionists and the German Nazis under Hitler.

Therefore, if the writer of Hebrews believed the wicked would be punished with something so monstrous as being endlessly annihilated or tormented, he would not have chosen to compare their punishment to something so lame as being stoned to death. Clearly he did not believe Love Omnipotent is an unfeeling terminator machine or sadist who abandons forever the beings He created in His own image & likeness so easily.

He shall save His people (Mt.1:21), i.e. Israel (2:6), from their sins.

Rom 5:18 Consequently, then, as it was through one offense for all mankind for condemnation, thus also it is through one just act for all mankind for life's justifying."

Rom 5:19 For even as, through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners, thus also, through the obedience of the One, the many shall be constituted just."

TDNT is "one of the most widely-used and well-respected theological dictionaries ever created". It says re the remedy for blasphemy of the Holy Spirit:

“It denotes the conscious and wicked rejection of the saving power and grace of God towards man. Only the man who sets himself against forgiveness is excluded from it. In such cases the only remedy is to deliver up to Satan that he may learn not to blaspheme (1 Tim 1:20)” (Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, TDNT, ed. Kittel, Vol.1, p.624, by Beyer).

Will God pardon the unpardonable?

Let's say a criminal whose punishment according to God's law of justice is to be stoned to death & he "shall not be pardoned" (i.e. "not be let off" the hook for this crime's punishment), so the people stone him to death. Just because the criminal was "not pardoned" (let off) from the due punishment of stoning and his crime was, in that sense, "unpardonable", that does not mean Love Omnipotent, i.e. God, ceased to love him or was incapable of - forgiving - the criminal for his - sin - postmortem if he confessed & repented.

Compare these verses in Numbers 15 which some commentaries have linked to the Spirit blasphemy Synoptic passages in the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark & Luke:

Luke 12:10 does not say what the penalty for blasphemy is that will "not be pardoned". Compare the Old Testament passages above, where the penalty was death. Likewise when Ananias & Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit, they died physically (Acts 5):

I mean, yes, be concerned. But there is no "time" in the afterlife.
So "endless" has a different meaning than how we normally use the word.

The Greek word for "forgiven" has a number of different meanings. It is used of Satan in regards to Jesus in Matthew 4:11. If you translate it as "forgive" there then you get a reading of "the devil did FORGIVE Him".

Here are various meanings given for the Greek word, APHIEMI (Strongs #863):

"Usage: (a) I send away, (b) I let go, release, permit to depart, (c) I remit, forgive, (d) I permit, suffer." Strong's Greek: 863. ἀφίημι (aphiémi) -- to send away, leave alone, permit

Remit: "to cancel or refrain from inflicting // remit the penalty"
Definition of REMIT
Remit: "cancel or refrain from exacting or inflicting (a debt or punishment)."
"An example of remit is to pardon someone..."

So according to Luke 12:10 there is one sin for which a person won't be "let go" or "released" or "remitted", "pardoned", etc.. What he will not be "let go" of, or not "released" from, or not "remitted" or "pardoned" of, is not stated in Lk.12:10.

Therefore to conclude that such a sin will result in never ending punishment & the person can never be saved is to read something into the verse which is not stated. Consequently Lk.12:10 fails as a "proof text" against Biblical universalism. It's just that simple.

Perhaps you meant Matthew. But Matthew 12:31-32 does not use the Greek word for "world", which is KOSMOS, but a form of the Greek word AION, meaning "age" or eon".

Those who commit the sin of Spirit blasphemy won't be "let off" or "released" or "remitted" from the due penalty or consequence for that sin. That consequence is what I detailed in my previous post to you, namely a "death" that sends people to "hell" until they are saved. That penalty or consequence for Spirit blasphemy will not only apply in this "age" but also in the millennial age to come:

So death from this world obviously doesn’t pay for this sin if it is not forgiven in the next world.

Lk.12:10 & Mt.12:31-32 say nothing about anyone "pay[ing] for this sin". The verse isn't talking about being "forgiven" for this sin, but of a person who commits the sin not being "let go" or "released", which implies some consequences or penalty. What those consequences are, or what that penalty is, is not stated.

As my previous post showed, certain blasphemers in the Scriptures suffered death, either by stoning, or by other means. Whether or not they could ever be "forgiven" by God is not stated. But they were not to be "pardoned" or "let go" or "released" from the consequences or penalty which was required, e.g. being stoned to death.

We shouldn't ignore the Biblical context & references to blasphemy & the consequence of death when interpreting Jesus' words in Lk.12:10. He was speaking to Jews whose Scriptures were the Old Testament.

Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death. (Leviticus 24:16)

28 A man that hath set at nought Moses' law dieth without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses: 29 of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? But the LORD of hosts revealed Himself to me, "Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven/purged/atoned you Until you die," says the Lord GOD of hosts. (Isaiah 22:14)

Lying to the Holy Spirit is not the same thing as blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

Blasphemy of the holy Spirit was done by the Pharisees. They claimed they were of God. They claimed that Jesus was of Satan. Got that?

Now...

Jesus had been casting out demons. The Pharisees said that Jesus was doing so by the power of Beelzebub.

Jesus turned and looked them in the eye, and asked...

19 Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your
followers drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.
20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the
kingdom of God has come upon you."​

Jesus was brilliantly trapping them. For they could not cast out demons.

OK... got that?


Now, if they claimed to be of God? And, God is greater than Satan?

Why could they not do what Jesus was doing, and even more so, because they claimed Jesus was not of God! That is why Jesus asked them by whom do they cast them out. Their answer would have been that they could not. Therefore the Pharisees were making the power of Jesus greater than their power! And, they claimed to be of God! That? Is blasphemy! Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit! For they were claiming that Satan is more powerful than the Holy Spirit! For they claimed to be the ones of God!

That blasphemy can not be forgiven, because by its very nature it rejects Jesus as being from God! And, makes Satan stronger than the Holy Spirit.

In the manner the Pharisees blasphemed? They were making Satan greater than God. They ended up having to reject Jesus Christ because they thought they had God, and Jesus was of Satan.

Therefore? They could never get saved. That sin will not be forgiven, and they will continue to the Lake of Fire.

On the other hand...Lying (not the same as making Satan to be greater than God the Holy Spirit) can be forgiven after one is saved. If they refuse to confess their sin? God will simply issue the sin onto death and take that liar home early.
